Born as Kiran Thakur Singh Sandhu in an Indian Punjabi Jat Sikh family, Kirron Kher is the favourite of every cinema lover. In her close to four decades of an acting career, there's hardly a character that Kirron hasn't or can't play flawlessly. Just like us, even her actor-husband, Anupam Kher is in awe of Kirron and leaves no chance to express his admiration for her.

Anupam Kher and Kiran Thakar Singh (she changed her name to Kirron in 2003) had met in 1980 and they would often go on tours together, staging plays. Anupam and Kiran were struggling with their first marriages back then and when in 1985, the couple met in Kolkata after a significant long gap for Raj Babbar's wife, Nadira Babbar's play, years of friendship culminated into a lovely moment. Anupam expressed his love for Kiran and in the same year, they got married.
To mark Kirron Kher's 69th birthday on June 14, 2021, Anupam Kher posted an array of pictures, one featuring the couple posing with the Kher clan and another one of Kirron with her father. Anupam captioned the post as "Happy birthday dearest #Kirron!! May God give you long and healthy life. May the Almighty grant you all the happiness in the world! People all over the world love you for the person you are! You are honest, fair, sincere and forthright! You deal with every situation in life with an amazing inner strength and grace! Stay healthy and safe! Love and prayers always!"
Last year, on June 14, 2020, Anupam Kher had posted a couple of pictures to wish Kirron Kher on her birthday. In one picture, Anupam and Kirron could be seen posing with Sikandar Kher, her son from her first marriage. He had written, "Happy birthday my dearest #Kirron!! May God give you all the happiness in the world. May you have a long and healthy life. Sorry you are on your own in #Chandigarh and both @sikandarkher and I are not with you. But we miss you. Will meet you soon. Love and prayers always. @kirronkhermp #BirthdayGirl" in the caption.

Once on Anupam Kher's birthday, Kirron Kher had posted their beautiful throwback memories on social media and revealed that his birthday is very special to her, more than her own. Kirron had written, "Anupam, you have been my strength ever since I've known you. This day is very special to me, more special than my own birthday. Here's wishing you a very, very happy #birthday and all the glory that you deserve! Lots and lots of #love!"
It was on April 1, 2021, when Anupam Kher and Sikandar Kher had confirmed the reports of Kirron Kher's diagnosis with blood cancer. Sharing an update about her health, Anupam and Sikandar had written in a note, "Just so that rumours don't get the better of a situation Sikandar and I would like to inform everyone that Kirron has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. She is currently undergoing treatment and we are sure she will come out of this stronger than before."
Asking her fans to keep sending love and prayers for Kirron Kher, Anupam Kher and Sikandar Kher had continued, "We are very blessed that she is being looked after by a phenomenal set of doctors. She's always been a fighter and takes things head on. She's all heart and that’s why she has so many people that love her. So keep sending your love to her in your prayers and in your heart. She is well on her way to recovery and we thank everyone for their support and love. Anupam and Sikandar."
