A single mother is made up of steel and a heart of gold. And while society has its own judgments, single moms across the world are proving that they are not less than anyone. In fact, they have a super-power of managing work, life, and kids all single-handedly. A perfect example of this is television actress, Dalljiet Kaur, who has now changed her name to Deepa. Dalljiet had a tough marriage with television actor, Shalin Bhanot. The couple got married in the year 2009 and after six-years of marriage, Dalljiet had filed a domestic violence case against her husband and in-laws. The ex-couple is also blessed with a son, who they had lovingly named, Jaydon.
Dalljiet has shown an immense amount of courage in order to take her life back on tracks. She had moved into her parents' house and created a better life for herself and her son. On July 30, 2019, she took to her Instagram handle and shared a couple of pictures of her son's first day of school. Along with it, she wrote, "As you begin your first day of school and start the journey of a beautiful journey. I need to let you know that you are loved immensely and that we are truly lucky to have you in our life. It’s an emotional day for me and I am so happy that with traditions of having dahi Shakkar. Exactly the way we grew up. You are also putting your step forward to a beautiful world ahead of you!" Take a look at the pictures below:
Coming back to her tough day, in an interview, Dalljiet had shared the reason behind her divorce. She had stated, "It wasn’t love at first sight. We became close gradually and got married immediately after 'Nach Baliye'. Trouble started the very next day when my mother-in-law stopped talking to me because she wasn’t happy with the wedding gifts. Status-wise, we are very different and they always knew about it. Dalljiet had further revealed that the real-ordeal started when she had quit her job in her pregnancy and had shared, "During pregnancy, I developed severe asthma and was on steroids, which Shaleen doesn’t even know. He never accompanied me to the doctor for check-ups. He didn’t want me to undergo Caesarean and accused me of influencing the doctor. His argument was that I wouldn’t be a woman enough if I went in for C-section."
Dalljiet had further shared how Shalin never took on the responsibility of their son. She had said, "He would claim he was busy though he wasn’t working. He doesn’t even know when his son took his first steps. He was never there — physically, emotionally or financially. He would go missing every night. It was evident from his behaviour that he is involved with other women."
Dalljiet had also talked about the domestic violence, and had shared, "He pushed me in my father’s presence. My thigh was bruised for almost a month. But I forgave him, thinking it takes time for a marriage to work. On another occasion, he twisted my arm in front of his parents. But I finally decided enough was enough, when he came charging towards me while I had Shaarav in my arms. It could have turned fatal for my 40-day-old premature child.
