Yes, the Indian squash queen hates cricketers because according to her the way cricketers are treated in India, it belittles other sportspersons. But then everybody has to bow down to fate. And fate had it that the girl who hates cricketers would one day marry a cricketer. Dinesh Karthik and Dipika Pallikal got married on August 18, 2015, in Chennai amidst close family and friends.
Since then, they have been giving major marital goals, and the newest addition to this spree is wifey Dipika’s birthday wish for hubby Dinesh as he turned 33 yesterday. Yes, it was Dinesh Karthik’s 33rd birthday and Dipika left no stone unturned to make it memorable for her husband.
Dipika shared a series of photos from their wedding on her Instagram stories to wish her hubby a happy 33rd birthday. The pics revive many beautiful memories from Dinesh and Dipika’s wedding. Take a look:

Wow! Isn’t that sweet of Dipika? For those who do not know, Dinesh and Dipika had two weddings- a Christian wedding (August 18, 2015), followed by a Hindu style Telugu wedding (August 20, 2015). Also, this is Karthik’s second marriage. He was earlier married to his long-time girlfriend, Nikita. But the couple got divorced and Nikita got married to another Indian cricketer, Murali Vijay.
Coming back to Dinesh and Dipika, the 33-year-old cricketer has confessed that his wife, Dipika doesn’t like cricket. Once he said, “She comes for the odd IPL match. But she does not enjoy cricket so we don't have many conversations about it”.
In another interview, he was quoted as saying, “My wife never saw my match. She gets nervous. Her sisters watched it. Cricket is not her favourite sport. She watches squash when it comes on TV. Cricket does not interest her much”.
However, when Dinesh Karthik was recently all over the news for his stunning performance in the Nidhas Trophy series, his wife felt proud and elated seeing her hubby’s performance. Being a sportsperson herself, she understands the pressure on the fields. She took to her Instagram and shared the following pictures:
Recounting the first time she met Dinesh, Dipika said in an interview, “We got to know each other at the gym, but there was nothing more, contrary to what most media reports seem to suggest." She further continued, "In fact, the first time we met was at a marathon some five years ago. After that, we met at the gym and, if I remember, I left for practice without even saying bye to him. Slowly we got to know each other”.
Undeniably, Dinesh Karthik and Dipika Pallikal make one of the most adorable sports couples. May Dinesh’s 33rd year be a blast!
