More than travelling on the Kasautii Zindagii Kay time machine, what we all were really looking forward to, was to see who will be playing Prerna. After a lot of suspense, Ekta Kapoor unveiled her Prerna and it is none other than the beautiful, Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi fame, Erica Fernandes! And ever since, we have been even more interested about her personal life and that has got something to do with her then co-star and ‘close friend’, Shaheer Sheikh.
An alleged relationship between Erica and Shaheer have been doing the rounds, ever since their hit show, Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi, where the couple had played the lead. Rumours about the couple parting ways had also grabbed a lot of eyeballs but Erica’s recent interview with The Times of India, ‘kind of’ cleared a lot of confusion. Denying all sorts of their relationship rumours, Erica shared, “Shaheer and I were good friends. We shared great chemistry because of our off-screen rapport. It’s important to enjoy a comfort level with your co-actor. It is not true that we were in a relationship, but I don’t deny the friendship. I would love to hang out with Shaheer even now, but I am busy shooting.”
Erica claims that she is ‘single’. Speaking about ‘her kind of guy’, the gorgeous actress stated, “It depends a lot on the respect that person gives you. I don’t mind chivalry either. Last year (2017), reports of Erica and Shaheer apparently breaking all ties broke the internet. The Navya star had reportedly gotten back with his ex, an Indonesian girl named Ayu Ting Ting and this clearly didn’t go down well with Erica. But on Christmas 2017, Shaheer banished all such speculations when he posted a picture with his rumoured muse, Erica. Here’s the pic:
Shaheer and Erica, both time and again had clarified their relationship, in the form of interviews or social media captions. When asked about their camaraderie, this is what Shaheer had once stated, “Erica is fun, but I am not dating her. People assume that we are dating because we spend a lot of time together on the set." At another instant, Erica shared, “I would finally want to break my silence here on all that I hear and see... Shaheer and my relationship is that of friendship and I will not tolerate anyone maligning it.”
In an interview with Pinkvilla earlier this year (2018), Shaheer spoke at length about link-up rumours with his ‘co-stars’ and revealed, “No, I think nowadays people do understand that stuff like this is just written to get few hits or just to promote the show. Actors are quite aware of that fact now so mostly it doesn't affect but social media sometimes does affect your mood, not much, but for that day maybe.. when you read a nasty comment and you are like, what is this? He further added, “I am okay if there is something and you blow it out of proportion but if there is nothing and you are talking about it, it doesn't make sense. I mean somebody once wrote I got engaged in Bandra in some house, I I don't even live in Bandra. People were calling Maa (Supriya ji) and asking her did she attend my engagement and she was confused if I got engaged without telling her and I was like, 'What Maa. Come on, I will tell you if I am getting engaged' It is just a figment of someone's imagination. It doesn't bother me much as I can't do anything about it. If I react, it then becomes a bigger issue so I just keep quiet.”
An onlooker from the sets of their former show had something interesting to reveal. The source had shared with SpotboyE, "It's not easy to shoot with these two. They are very good with each other one moment, they fight the next moment. Every day their equation with respect to each other changes. They have been having a very rocky relationship since the longest time but now it's telling on our nerves. Nobody likes so much of inconsistency and unpredictability."
When asked if they were dating, the source also shared, “Of course, they were. In fact, they still are. But we now think its only attraction and not love. If they really loved each other, they wouldn't have had so many fights." And concluded with, “They have completely stopped talking to the media, and frankly it's just not fair.”
