Farah Khan On Her Decision Of Embracing Motherhood At Age 43 Via IVF, Proudly Pens An Open Letter

Log kya kahenge?’ is a question that has been haunting every woman since ages. Be it deciding what to wear, choosing whom to marry or even planning a baby, women are expected to live up to the never-ending expectations of the society. But fortunately, the times have evolved and for good as women now, don’t worry about their ticking biological clock and embrace motherhood only when they are ready. Not sticking to the primitive social norms, women have not only debunked the misconceptions on pregnancy and motherhood but are also taking a step towards normalising the alternative ways of welcoming a child. (Also Read: Natasa Stankovic Reveals What Helped Her Lose Post-Pregnancy Weight, Gets Back To Her Fit Shape)

It was in 2008 when ace choreographer and director, Farah Khan had welcomed her triplets, daughters, Diva Kunder and Anya Kunder, and son, Czar Kunder via IVF at the age of 43. Farah had conceived her triplets via In vitro fertilization (IVF) and since then, she has been openly talking about the process to encourage women, who cannot conceive naturally to consider other alternatives. When Farah had given birth to her triplets in 2008, her brother, Sajid Khan had confirmed the news to the IANS and was quoted as saying, "The babies - two girls and a boy - are all healthy and their mother is also fine." In 2020, Diva, Anya and Czar had turned 12 and to mark the special day, Farah had posted a throwback picture. She had captioned it as “My world is small enough to fit into 1 picture… #tripletsturn12... time flies and it’s important to know what is truly important... #timeflies #flashback #birthday.”

I became an IVF mom at 43 and I am glad I did so. I wish a great motherhood to all women out there who want to be mothers - naturally or otherwise. An open letter to all the women out there, reminding them that #ItsAWomansCall Are you with me ladies?” Farah began her noter with “To All Women, our actions speak louder than words. For every action, we have a choice; and what you make of that choice, makes us.” (Also Read: Kangana Ranaut Recalls How Her Nephew, Prithvi Had Made Her Teary-Eyed Before She Left For The Shoot)

Speaking about the choices she had to make that helped her in becoming who she is today and how she had listened to her gut and seized it every time, Farah Khan continued, “As a daughter, wife and a mother, I’ve had to make many choices because of which I have become the choreographer, filmmaker and producer that I am. Every time I felt the moment was right, I listened to my gut and seized it. Whether it was for my career or for my family. We think about people’s judgements so much, we forget that it’s our life and it’s our call! Today I am a proud mother of three because of a choice. I became a mother when I was ready for it, not when the society deems “the appropriate age to conceive.” Thanks to advancements in science, I was able to do it via IVF at my age. Today, it’s nice to see that more women are making this choice without fear of judgement, changing people’s mindsets and taking their happiness in their own hands.”

Khan-Kunder Family

In an interview with Huffington Post, Farah Khan Kunder had revealed how her life had changed post embracing motherhood and how she had cried every single night when she had gone to Dubai for the shoot of Happy New Year, leaving her kids in Mumbai. Farah had said, “We never raise our voices in front of the kids. My children must be thinking I’m Mother Teresa - so gentle and well behaved. When the first time I went to work after giving birth, I sat alone in my vanity van and cried. When the baby comes out of your body, a guilt gene is pushed in. Men don’t have that at all. When I went to shoot in Dubai (for HNY), that was the longest I left them - 10 days - I cried every night.” (Also Read: Sangeeta Phogat Twins With Her Sister, Geeta Phogat And Nephew, Arjun Saroha On Her Haldi Ceremony)
