Genelia D’Souza added Deshmukh to her name after she had got married to the love of her life, Riteish Deshmukh in 2012. The doting couple had embraced parenthood for the first time on November 25, 2014, with the arrival of their son, Riaan Deshmukh. In 2016, Riaan was promoted to ‘big brother’ when Genelia and Riteish had welcomed their second baby, Rahyl Deshmukh.
Riteish and Genelia never miss a chance to treat their fans with adorable glimpses from their lives on their respective social media handles. To mark their 9th wedding anniversary on February 3, 2021, Genelia had posted an adorable video with Riteish and had written:
“Dearest @riteishd, You don’t find love, it finds you, It’s got a little bit to do with destiny, fate, what’s written in the stars and a lot to do with special kind of you. There is no me without you… I’m totally madly, crazy in love you. Happy Anniversary Love.”

On June 15, 2022, Genelia hosted a Q and A session on her IG stories and answered many questions about her personal life with her fans. When a user asked the gorgeousness about the best gift she received from her hubby, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia posted a picture of her two little munchkins, Riaan Deshmukh and Rahyl Deshmukh. In the same session, a fan asked her, “What’s your mobile wallpaper?” And the diva shared the screen of her mobile, which had featured her, Riteish and their kids.
For the unversed, it was in 2002, when Genelia had first met Riteish at the Hyderabad airport for the test shoot of their debut film, Tujhe Meri Kasam. Genelia had a preconceived notion about Riteish for hailing from an influential political family. But as they say, some things are just meant to be. During the shoot, the two had struck a beautiful friendship, which had eventually turned into love.

In a throwback 2014 interview with the Tribune, Riteish Deshmukh had spoken about his wife, Genelia Deshmukh and their beautiful bond. Calling her the best thing in his life, Riteish had stated:
“She acted with me in my first film. We first became best friends and then midway through the film, we started seeing each other. We were seeing each other for 10 years before we decided to get married in 2012. Genelia and I are one entity. Falling in love with your friend and that becoming your life is the best thing that can happen to a person. I love her energy and her smile."
On the professional front, Genelia is all set to mark her debut in a Marathi film!
