The source continued and revealed that back in those days, mental illness was not a topic to be vocal about, and it had played a big role in his decision of ending his life. The source further added, "In all probability, he was severely depressed, and because in those times, these things were not spoken a lot or understood by common people, no one, not even Dutt himself came to terms with the fact that he was depressed. Talking about Guru Dutt's upcoming biopic, then it's going to be directed by Bhavna Talwar, a critically acclaimed director, who had received National Film Award for her debut film, Dharm in 2007. On July 29, 2020, Bhavna had taken to her Twitter handle and had posted two pictures of Guru Dutt's biopic, Pyasa's script. The title of the film is taken from the legendary director's iconic 1957 drama by the same name. Along with those pictures, Bhavna had written a few lines, and it could be read as "Now that the cat's out of the bag! Can't wait to get down to this one after seven years of toil and immeasurable joy."

Well, the young director has strong backing from Guru Dutt's family as his niece and filmmaker, Kalpana Lajmi had talked about the same in an interview with the Hindustan Times. She had stated, "Why should I threaten to go legal if Bhavna Talwar makes a biopic on my uncle? I don't know how or where these reports originated. Bhavna is a very fine filmmaker. I am sure she would do justice to the subject." (Also Read: Shikha Singh Shares Adorable Pictures Of Her Baby Angel, Alayna With Her Super-Cute 'Goku Bhaiya')
