Hema Malini started her day on an auspicious note with a visit to the ISKCON temple in Mumbai with her brothers and sisters-in-law. Later in the evening, a small get-together was hosted for her friends from the industry. Rekha, Jeetendra, Poonam Sinha, Sanjay Khan, Zarine Khan, Neetu Chandra, Ahana Deol with husband Vaibhav Vohra and son Darien Vohra, Esha Deol with husband Bharat Takhtani and daughter Radhya Takhtani attended the birthday bash.
Birthday girl, Hema Malini looked as beautiful as ever in a light pink saree and even her daughters, Esha and Ahana donned outfits in the same colour tone. In the pictures and videos going viral on the internet from Hema ji’s birthday celebrations, we stumbled upon a video of the birthday girl cutting her birthday cake. And she doesn’t cut her cake alone. Hema ji along with her grandson, Darien cuts her birthday cake while the little Radhya is cuddled in her daddy’s arm, who is standing beside Hema ji. Radhya Takhtani, who will turn one-year-old on October 20, 2018, was dressed in a grey and white frock with a baby pink coloured jacket, and she adorned a beautiful bow on her head, for her nani’s birthday. Hema Malini thanked everyone for the birthday wishes, and tweeted, “Thank you all for ur good wishes on my birthday today - Had a lovely, peaceful darshan of the lord at Iskcon in Mumbai this morning, with my brothers and bhabhis”. In a conversation with a radio station, Hema ji spoke on her relationship with husband Dharmendra, and how she has learnt to express the emotion from him. Reminiscing the phone call when he called her and said those three magical words, Hema ji said, "It was when Dharamji called me and said I love you. Back in those days, it was very difficult as there used to be landline phones and you had to find a proper place to speak over the phone. Romance is a very beautiful feeling. She went on to say, "It is not like you can express this to anyone. A lot of people might love you, but you can only reciprocate to the one who you truly love and that's how it has been between us. It never happened with anyone else."
On the feeling of love, she stated: "When you love someone, it comes from within. That is the most beautiful thing I believe every woman should experience. They should fall in love once. Love is such a beautiful expression. When you hear the person you love, express their love over the phone, it's a different feeling altogether, you just want to keep listening and not hang up."
Speaking about her granddaughter, Radhya, Hema ji was quoted as saying, “It’s such a beautiful feeling to become a grandmom again! I am very excited right now. Even Dharmendra ji is very happy. Esha is doing well, and the newborn baby girl, whom Esha and her husband Bharat Takhtani have decided to name Radhya, is so sweet and lovely-looking, like a little doll! My Mathura people are very happy. Krishna ki nagri hai, toh Radha Rani is important there.”
The Dream Girl, Hema ji further stated, “I was equally excited when Darien (son of Ahana Deol, Hema’s younger daughter) was born. But he has grown up so fast, and now goes to playschool. But I am scared to hold these babies, though I did it in my time. In the next few years, even Radhya will grow up and start going to school... how time flies! But I am happy seeing the way Esha and Bharat are handling things. They are so excited, almost as if they have a little new toy to play with! Ahana is helping Esha, since she’s more experienced.
