The iconic comedian and actor, Johnny Lever's daughter, Jamie Lever, is one of the youngest comedians in the country, who is turning a lot of heads in recent times. Before making it big in the entertainment industry, Jamie had worked as a marketing executive at the renowned agency, Visiongain. However, she soon realised that she wasn't built for that, after which she pursued her dream of becoming a comedian. It was in 2012 when she performed at The Comedy Show in Mumbai.

After which Jamie Lever had participated in the show, Comedy Circus Ke Mahabali. While on one side, she was receiving a lot of attention for her work, she had also started getting noticed for her work in movies like Kis Kis Ko Pyar Karoon, Housefull 4, and Bhoot Police.

Once in a candid conversation with ETimes, Jamie Lever opened up about the start of her journey as a comedienne in the entertainment industry. The actress shared that her father and iconic comedian, Johnny Lever, always supported her but had also trained her really hard for the real world. Jamie explained that her father knew that she would be judged on the burden of his legacy in Indian cinema. The doting daughter added that her father wanted her to be well-prepared before entering the entertainment business. Recalling the same, she had said:

"He (Johnny Lever) was really tough on me because he knew, it's difficult here and he's seen the struggle himself. He felt that people will criticise and judge me, they will be hard on me because I am Johnny Lever's daughter, who's done 300-400 movies. He very well knew people will be hard on me, so he would say, 'tu bahar jaane se pehle yahan ro le taaki bahar rona na pade' (Instead of going out and crying, you cry here first)."

Going further in the interview, Jamie Lever had admitted that there were times when she had cried while preparing to become a comedian, courtesy of her father, Johnny Lever's intense mental training. However, the daughter clearly stated that she had not thought of quitting for a second, as that training was significant for her journey as an actress and a comedienne. Not only this, but Jamie had also added that she wanted to make her father proud by bringing Lever Khandan's name to the stature of the Kapoors and Khans. She had said:

"He (Johnny Lever) made sure that I understood and learnt it the tough way. I cried before saying every joke but I am very happy and thankful that I saw this phase too and because of that experience, I became tough. They say comedy comes from tragedy, so, even I had to suffer a few tragedies but it's okay. There is a Kapoor khaandaan, Khan khaandaan, I want to make 'Lever khaandaan."
