One joke he makes an everyone around him erupt in laughter. He knows exactly well how to poke anyone’s funny bone and make them laugh their heart out until their mouth and stomach pain. He is the king of standup comedy as took the world of comedians to another level in the past few years. The man in question is none other than Kapil Sharma, who is successfully reigning the small screen for quite sometime now. Well, there is no denying the fact that his show, The Kapil Sharma Show is one amongst those shows bagging highest TRPs.
As much as his life is now back on track (he took a break sometime back because of his depression), his life seems to be high on the personal front as well. It was on December 12, 2018, that Kapil officially became mister to his longtime girlfriend, Ginni Chatrath. Theirs was a traditional Sikh wedding in the presence of their close pals and family members. For the ones who don’t know, their love blossomed during their college days. Rumours were recently rife that Kapil and Ginni are probably all set to embrace parenthood in 2019 within just a few months of getting married. The report had also suggested that Kapil’s mom, Janak Rani, had also flown down to Mumbai to stay with her expecting daughter-in-law. Until now, Kapil as well as Ginni chose to stay mum about the speculations around her pregnancy. Neither have they announced it, nor have they dismissed it. And this is further giving rise to more rumours.
And now, a report by Pinkvilla suggests that Kapil and Ginni will be leaving for a short babymoon getaway. Pinkvilla has quoted a source as saying, "Kapil will be taking off to Canada for around 10 days with wife Ginni as he hasn't taken her for a long overdue proper honeymoon so far. Soon after Ginni’s pregnancy rumours started doing the rounds, her due month was also revealed. A leading portal had shared, “They got the good news just a few days ago, Ginni’s due date is in December. Kapil has been busy with the shoot of his eponymous comedy show, The Kapil Sharma Show, but he has now scheduled his shoot in a way that he gets to spend more with her. She too has been accompanying him on the shoot so they can spend time together." The source had further added, "His colleagues ensure that she is well looked after on the set. At home, Kapil’s mother is taking care of her. Ginni’s family has also flown down from Jalandhar."
Talking about the time when he used to go and see girls, he used to get weird replies when he told them he is a comedian. Kapil was quoted as saying, "Whenever I used to go to see a girl, her parents asked me about my career to which I reverted saying that I am a comedian. I have always got weird replies like, 'being a comedian is fine, but what do you do to earn money?' And this was the reason I have always been rejected for marriages as everybody thought this art of mine cannot make me earn bread and butter for my family." Confirming his wedding news in 2018, Kapil had gone on record saying, “The wedding is on December 12 in Jalandhar. That’s Ginni’s hometown. We wanted to keep it low key. But Ginni is the only daughter in her family. Her folks wanted the wedding to be on a lavish scale. And I completely understand their sentiments. My mother also wants the wedding to be lavish”. He had further added, “My mother has been saying that I should get married for a long time. Suddenly I realised that ‘abhi age ho rahi hai’ (I am getting on in age). So, I thought what if she says ‘no’ and after one or two years, no one agrees to get married to me.”
Reminiscing about their love story, Kapil had once told the Bombay Times, “My friend told me that Ginni likes me, but I rubbished him. One day, I directly asked Ginni, ‘Tu mujhe like toh nahi karti?’ and she denied. Later, at a youth festival, I introduced her to my mother as one of my students." He had further gone on to add, “Then I came to Mumbai for the 'Laughter Challenge' audition and by then, I had also appeared on a Punjabi TV channel. Ginni was impressed with me because I was studying and working at such a young age. When I got rejected for 'Laughter Challenge', I called her and said, ‘Please don’t call me’. I felt that our friendship has no future, as her financial condition was better, and we belonged to different castes. So, we took a break. When I got selected for Laughter Challenge after auditioning again, she called to congratulate me."
