Marriages are a two-way street that works on hard work, respect and love which will help you sail through the high tides in your relationship. It survives only when a couple considers themselves as a unit and not one person v/s another. Looks like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame, Karan Mehra and Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki, Nisha Rawal's phase in which they were a unit together is over as the couple is on the verge of divorce.
A report in the ANI informed that Karan was arrested by Mumbai police after Nisha filed a complaint against him on the night of May 31, 2021. However, shortly after, Karan was granted bail.

To give you a brief on Karan Mehra and Nisha Rawal's relationship, the couple had met on the sets of the film, Hastey Hastey, in which she was the actress and he was the stylist. Karan and Nisha had tied the knot in 2012 and were blessed with their little munchkin, Kavish Mehra in 2017. Going by Karan and Nisha's social media feeds that exude nothing but love and happiness, one cannot guess the troubles in their married life. Some time ago, there were rumours of troubles in Karan and Nisha's relationship, stating that the couple might head for the divorce. But Karan and Nisha, both had denied the rumours back then.
After the reports of Karan Mehra's arrest emerged in the media on the morning of June 1, 2021, the couple was contacted by the Hindustan Times. Karan narrated what actually happened on the night of May 31 and blamed his wife, Nisha Rawal for playing the 'bechari girl card'. Beginning with why they had mutually decided to separate, Karan said, "We were going through a strain in our married life and were trying to figure a way out. In the last few days, we came to a point where were decided to mutually separate and do our best for our child. On May 31, we were talking about finance and how we would distribute things and we disagreed on certain points. She wanted more than what I could give. I told her, 'What you want, I can’t give and what you want, can’t be given'. I explained to her that the pandemic is still here, and who knows what happens tomorrow and I would want to give my son the best."

Revealing that a few years ago, Nisha was diagnosed as bipolar and it was her, who had banged her head on the wall and blamed him for it, Karan Mehra continued, "They can't hold me ransom, so I told them to go ahead. Later, Nisha barged into my bedroom, as we have been sleeping in separate bedrooms since a while. She began shouting and abusing my family, told me, I will ruin your life, spat on me and I calmly told her not to behave in this manner and to go back to her bedroom. I didn't want to talk right then. I got up to go into the bathroom when she suddenly banged her head on the wall and said, 'ab dekho kya hota hai'. Actually, Nisha has mood swings and violent anger streak. She would throw stuff and hit herself and others. Five-six years ago, she was diagnosed as bipolar. People, including our friends and relatives have seen her behaviour in public and I couldn't take it anymore."
Explaining his side of the story and how unbelievable it is for him that Nisha is playing the 'bechari girl card', Karan Mehra added, "I have been disrespected and now to use the bechari girl card is unbelievable. People know me in the industry and know what I have put into this marriage and done things for her. Today, I am not in a position to give what she wants and this is what I get? Jab lavish life thi, tum enjoy karte the, aaj bura time hai, we have to cope, toh you want to separate. I agreed to separation but to take everything, is not done. Karan ko sadak pe lao aur hume saare paise mile, yeh plan hai. If I give her all what I earn, what will I survive on."
Nisha Rawal and Karan Mehra had set up CCTV as they have staff in the house but that night, before the incident, the actress and her brother, Rohit Sethia had switched it off. Karan elaborated, "There was no proof of what she did. And they suddenly took out their phone cameras to record what happened. It felt like a plot against. They called the cops and so did I and even the cops understood what the truth was. I am not a violent person and I told Nisha to swear on our son that I did that but she didn't."
