Today we bring to you a simple and sweet love story of two superstars down South. We're talking about Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar.
Unaware of each other's existence, Mahesh and Namrata were waiting to make a mark in the world in their respective fields. Namrata won the Miss India Universe crown and made her Bollywood debut opposite Salman Khan and Twinkle Khanna in 1998. It was in 1999 when she signed her third movie and the first in Telegu, Vamsi, which laid the stage for the meeting of the future soulmates. Vamsi was also Mahesh Babu's first movie.
It was the summer of 2000 when Namrata and Mahesh met for the first time for the muhurat of the movie. Though it was a brief meeting, they both made an everlasting impression on each other. By the time the film was completed, Mahesh and Namrata had already fallen in love with each other.

Both Mahesh and Namrata have a down-to-earth nature and despite Namrata being four years older to Mahesh, it never became a problem for a conventional Mahesh Babu.
Mahesh and Namrata were successful in keeping their affair way from the gaze of the media for a long time. Mahesh didn't even tell his parents about it. It was his sister to whom he had confessed that he and Namrata were in love with each other.
They didn't want their relationship to come under the scrutiny of the paparazzi. It was the year 2004 when the couple finally said the words out loud and their fans rejoiced. They even shared that they'd be tying the knot soon.

The year 2005 saw the union of Mahesh Babu and Namrata Sharodkar. Since both the bride and the groom were busy wrapping up their respective projects, it was Namrata's family who took the charge of organising the wedding. About the wedding, Mahesh said:
"I was shooting the whole night before for the film Athadu' I finished the shoot and flew down to get married."
and Namrata gushed:
"I was busy until the week before the marriage, as I was trying to finish all my assignments. I really had no time. But then all the arrangements were done by my sister and brother-in-law and my parents"

Marriott, Mumbai, was chosen as the venue for the wedding of the stars of South India. On 10th February 2005, Namrata and Mahesh took the wedding vows in the presence of their family and close friends. Pundits from Tirupati flew to Mumbai to chant the mantras in Telegu.
Like a Telegu couple, Mahesh and Namrata chose to wear traditional Telegu wedding attires. Namrata wore a white silk saree with a green border and green glass bangles. Mahesh Babu wore a white silk dhoti and kurta.
Namrata stopped working post-wedding as she knew that Mahesh had always wanted a wife who would look after the kids and the family. The couple welcomed their first kid, Gautham Krishna, in the year 2006.

All was going well when the couple hit a rough patch after three years down the nuptial road. The tension rose to such a level that Namrata shifted to her house in Mumbai with their son. Mahesh and Namrata both made various efforts and were back together in no time.
Shedding light on the troublesome times, Namrata said:
"Three years post marriage was difficult for Mahesh and me. He was on a long career break, I lost my parents, he lost his granny. Plus, he was in this whole dilemma of what movie to sign next. But that period made us stronger as a couple, and as individuals. Our foundation today is more solid, we became one strong nuclear unit. I look back at all of it as a blessing."

In the year 2012, the couple welcomed their baby girl, Sitara Ghattamaneni and completed their family.

These days, Namrata is managing her home and plays a crucial part in Mahesh's career while Mahesh is busy pampering his wife and his kids. Giving credit for his happiness to Namrata, Mahesh ushered:
"Namrata is a real person. What she feels is what you get, no frills attached. She keeps me grounded."
