India business tycoon, Mukesh Ambani is all set to get the highest Z plus security cover. On February 28, 2023, the Supreme Court ordered that the Reliance Industries Chairman and his immediate family be given security and directed the State of Maharashtra to ensure the same.
A bench headed by justices Krishna Murari and Ahsanuddin Amanullah stated that the Ambanis would bear the entire expenses of the security. The court had passed the order after a senior advocate, Mukul Rohatgi, representing Ambanis, submitted an appeal stating that the family is at continued risk of being targeted to destabilise the country’s financial economy and the risk is not just restricted throughout India.

The advocate also pointed out that Mukesh Ambani has businesses across the country, and the family's philanthropic activities lead them to travel to the remotest places. And to ensure the safety of the business tycoon and his family, the highest level of security cover is essential.
Therefore the court directed the highest security cover to Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani, Akash Ambani, Anant Ambani and Isha Ambani in India and abroad. The bench also stated that the existing security cover cannot be restricted to their State of residence and said:
“Having heard learned counsel for the parties, we are of the considered opinion that if there is a security threat, the security cover provided and that too at own expense of the respondents, cannot be restricted to a particular area or place of stay. Looking into the business activities of respondents nos. 2 to 6 (Mukesh Ambani and his family) within the country as also outside the country, the very purpose of providing security cover would stand frustrated, if the same is restricted to a particular place or area.”

Multiple reports are also suggesting that the highest security has been issued after an anonymous caller threatened to blow up the industrialist’s house. The call was reportedly received at the Nagpur Police control room, after which the Nagpur Police immediately alerted the Mumbai Police. Not just this, the caller also threatened to target superstars, Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s houses too.
For the unversed, Mukesh Ambani was provided with Z plus security cover in 2013, and Y plus category Central Police Reserve Force cover was given to his wife, Nita Ambani in 2016.
