Veteran actress, Mumtaz ruled the Hindi film industry in the 1960s and 70s, and she set the screens on fire during her entire tenure in Bollywood. She has worked in popular films like Do Raaste, Bandhan, Aadmi Aur Insaan, Nagin, Loafer and others. However, the veteran actress never failed to impress the audience with her talent and beauty. During her younger days, Mumtaz would often hit the headlines for her personal life, and once again, she is in the news for something unusual.
Recently, a few videos of Mumtaz have gone viral on YouTube claiming that she was once keen to marry Mehmood, but he turned her down. The videos also mentioned that Mumtaz has put on a lot of weight and has become unattractive. Now, in an interview, the veteran actress reacted to the false information being circulated online.

In an interview with the ETimes, Mumtaz opened up about the videos doing the rounds on the internet, spreading rumours about her. When she was asked if it was true that she wanted to marry Mehmood, but he said 'no' to her, Mumtaz got really angry. Claiming that Mehmood was like her brother, the veteran actress threatened to sue the gossipmongers and added:
"Rubbish. I am very angry at the moment. How can YouTube run such stuff? I will sue those media persons like I did to journalist Devyani Chaubal. Mehmood was going out with Aruna Irani. He was like my brother. He helped me get 'Ram Aur Shyam'- the film that is instrumental in making me reach where I reached. How can anyone talk such rubbish about a person who is no more?"
Further in the interview, when Mumtaz was asked if there was ever any incident that linked her and Mehmood in the past, she denied it. She also shared that there have been rumours that she has become 200 kgs and added that she is perfectly fit and fine. Adding that whatever is being said about her and Mehmood is ridiculous, Mumtaz stated:
"Nope. Whatever is being said about Mehmood and me is ridiculous. They are now also saying that I have become 200 kg and I look like this, and I look like that. Jiski bhi koi bhi marzi hogi, woh bolta jayega? In baaton se bahut taqleef hoti hai. I am perfectly fine and certainly don't want to look like an ugly duckling ever. All said and done, I am perfectly fit and looking good. I still have long hair, a good complexion and a good figure. I am sending you my pictures, and you can carry them for reference."

Mumtaz also mentioned that the false reports have irked her and added that her husband and daughters believe her. However, she said that she was answerable to her fans as they made her what she is today. She concluded:
"Coming back to Mehmood, I still maintain that the item is false and it has irked me to no end. My husband and daughters believe me, but I am answerable to my fans. I am what I am because of my fans. They love me, and I love them."
Meanwhile, Mumtaz is living her best life with her hubby Mayur Madhwani, in London.
