Indian cinema had suffered its biggest heartbreak on July 7, 2021, when the greatest actor in the history of Indian cinema, Dilip Kumar, referred to as the 'Tragedy King' had passed away. While on one side, the whole entertainment industry was shattered by his demise, on the other side, everyone was praying for the recovery of another iconic actor, Naseeruddin Shah, who was admitted to the hospital due to a patch in his lungs.
Talking about Naseeruddin Shah's personal life, he and his wife, Ratna Pathak Shah, are two maestros of theatre and Bollywood. Their chemistry and charm is evergreen but what makes them a power couple are their liberal thoughts and contribution to the art of cinema. In 1975, Naseer had met Ratna Pathak for the first time. After a long dating and live-in period together, Naseeruddin and Ratna got married on April 1, 1982.

On July 7, 2021, veteran actor, Naseeruddin Shah's son, Vivaan Shah, shared the 'happy news' of his father's discharge from the hospital. The doting son shared two pictures of his father with his mother, Ratna Pathak, from their home. Naseeruddin Shah looked slightly weak in the pictures, but his massive fanbase is delighted that he is back home. Vivaan Shah revealed that his father was discharged from the Khar-based P D Hinduja Hospital on Wednesday morning. While atop the first story, Vivaan wrote, "Back Home", in the second story, he wrote, "He just got discharged today morning."
The whole nation had gone numb, when on July 29, 2021, Naseeruddin Shah was admitted to the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai and was under medical supervision. On finding a patch in his lungs, he was immediately admitted to the hospital.
Naseeruddin Shah's manager was quoted as saying by Bombay Times, "He has been in the hospital for two days. He's under medical supervision. He was brought in for Pneumonia. There was a patch found in his lungs and it became necessary for him to be hospitalised immediately. His condition is stable and he's responding well to the treatment."

Iconic actress and Naseeruddin Shah's wife, Ratna Pathak Shah, had shared an update about her husband's health and had confirmed the reports of him having a patch in his lungs. The doting wife had handled the scary situation calmly, and in a conversation with the PTI (Press Trust Of India), Ratna Pathak had said, "Yes (he has a) small patch and all under control. (He is) Responding well to treatment so hope he'll be discharged soon."
On July 3, 2021, a source from the Hinduja Hospital had shared an update about Naseeruddin Shah's medical health with the PTI (Press Trust Of India) and had stated that the iconic actor is responding well. An insider had informed PTI, "He is stable and under observation. He is on medication and absolutely fine."

Naseeruddin Shah was admitted to the same hospital as the legendary actor and his Karma co-star, Dilip Kumar, who had passed away on July 7, 2021, due to prolonged illness.
