Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor redefine #CoupleGoals. Rishi ji is currently in New York, undergoing the last phase of his cancer treatment. It has been months since Rishi ji is away from his land but the entire residents of B-town have tried their best to make the legendary actor feel at home. Time and again, many B-town stars have flown in to visit the steadfastly recuperating Rishi Kapoor in NYC. But one person who has always been his constant in these trying times is his wife, Neetu Kapoor. Ever since Rishi ji was admitted to the hospital, Neetu ji has stood by her hubby like a rock.
Neetu Kapoor recently appeared on a radio show, Suhaana Safar with Annu Kapoor hosted by Annu Kapoor himself. In the show, Neetu ji got candid about her relationship with hubby, Rishi Kapoor and reminisced about the initial days of their meeting. She recalled, “I had a horrible first meeting with Rishi Kapoor. He had a habit of bullying, so he would comment on my make-up and clothes, and I'd feel so angry. He was actually a brat who would bully everyone and I was very young at that time. I used to be furious with him.”
Neetu Kapoor, in the radio show, was asked about the moment when she thought that Rishi Kapoor is the one for her. She even shared about the times when Neetu ji’s protective mom would send her cousin along when they used to go on dinner dates. She revealed, “I don't remember the exact moment. But I had signed a lot of movies. I was starting to gain confidence. My mother was very protective of me and used to send my cousin Lovely on my dinner dates with Rishi.”
Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor had appeared in a lot of films before they got married. Speaking about the probable reasons, she stated, “After 'Bobby' became a superhit, Dimple got married and Rishi was left with no other heroine because everyone used to look older than him. Talking about their dating spree, Neetu Kapoor stated, "I was very young, and I had never really been on a date before. This went on for three years, after which I signed 'Naseeb', 'Shaan' and another four or five big-budget movies. Then Rishi ji asked, 'You are signing so many movies, don't you want to get married?' He was thinking about it, I had no idea. He had never said that he wants to get married. We were just dating. So I said, 'There has to be a boy to get married to. Rishi ji said, 'So who am I?'"
Neetu Kapoor also shared that when she told her mother that she wanted to get married to Rishi Kapoor, she was very happy! The Yaarana actress stated, “I returned the signing amounts of all the movies I had signed, and then gave notice to everyone asking them to finish all pending movies. I had worked so hard in that one year (to complete all projects before marriage), you can't even imagine.” Neetu ji further added, “And then my husband told me to finish everything, so we could eventually start a family. It wasn't that women couldn't work (after marriage) but I was tired working for 15 years continuously. I wanted a simple life.”
Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor's marital journey has been full of ups and downs. Even after they started dating, he was said to have had affairs with a few of his co-stars, but Neetu ji never acted upon them. In an earlier interview, Neetu ji had said, “Even when we were dating, he remained a total flirt and would pretend he did not have other affairs when he was caught and always denied it. I knew that. But I was too innocent and if he said ‘nahi hai’ I would believe him. Neetu Kapoor, in another interview, had talked about the highs and lows in their marriage. Their relation is an actual proof of the same. In the interview, she had revealed, “There always comes a phase in a couple’s life when there would be friction, disagreements. Rishi and I also went through that stage. It was just one of those problems, which only the husband and wife would understand. Fortunately, we were able to sort out our differences. Today, everything is forgotten.”
