Be it their social media PDA or interviews about their marriage and each other, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas have been constantly grabbing the headlines ever since they got married on December 1-2, 2018. But lately, Mrs Jonas had set the tongues wagging with her appearance at the New York Fashion Week, where her ‘belly bulge’ speculated if the newly-wedded Desi Girl is pregnant! Dressed in checkered separates from designer Michael Kors' line, Priyanka looked stunning in her look, but her alleged ‘baby bump’ looked quite evident. Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ mother, Madhu Chopra, who is currently promoting their next production, Firebrand, clarified the speculations around her daughter’s pictures. Dismissing Priyanka’s pregnancy reports, Madhu ji was quoted as saying by Mid-Day, "It was a bad angle. The outfit was nice. She looked like that only in some pictures, the rest were fine. Blame it on the camera angle!"
Revealing how Priyanka reacted to the conjectures of her pregnancy, Madhu ji further stated, "When I spoke to Priyanka on the phone, she told me that she was tired and hence, had a slumped posture. I told her what people were saying, and she simply said, 'Mamma, give me a break!'"
In an interview with PTI, Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ mother, Madhu Chopra was asked if she was worried for her daughter when she began her career in a male-dominated industry. To which, she had replied, “There were times when I had doubts if this is the right way she’s going. She was moving so fast. She was on a rocket-propelled move. I thought she’s missing out on some aspects of her life because she’s so dedicated to her career, profession and her craft. As I saw her evolve, I started enlisting. Only in the initial days, I was worried. Later, I was with her in her trajectory.”
Speaking of how the story of Firebrand resonated with them, Madhu ji added, “Priyanka is bold, she’s not scared. She says it as it comes so the content should reflect that. She supports these kinds of films. She has the final say, on the creatives and every aspect of filmmaking. She’s so passionate about films, I’m probably 1 per cent of what she is. When asked how Priyanka managed her production house, Madhu ji retorted, “They said ‘Priyanka is in America how’s she making films here.’ But Priyanka knows how to do things and is very up to date with gadgets, so remote controlling your company isn’t tough. The difficulty then was people taking you seriously. After Ventilator, people realised we mean business. Our films have been very well received. It was our mandate that regions should get a platform, all India or global.”
Recently on The Ellen Degeneres Show, Priyanka Chopra Jonas revealed that her idea of the ‘intimate wedding’ made her mother, Madhu Chopra upset. PeeCee had said, "Usually Indian weddings have like a thousand people, we had only 200 which was mostly family. Both of us have giant families." When asked why didn't she had a wedding with 1000 guests, the Quantico star replied, "Because we wanted to keep it intimate. We wanted to keep it just about family."
And how it made her mom upset, Priyanka had shared, "My mother was so upset with me the whole time. She was like I need to have another party for the 150,000 people I know. How can I not invite my jeweller, how can I not invite my hairdresser? This was the conversation." Commenting on the same, Madhu Chopra shared with PTI, “Yes! She wanted a very intimate wedding. That’s her choice. For me, it was like a shock! Who do you not invite?! But she took her scissors and (cut all the names).”
On the work front, Priyanka Chopra will be seen next in the Hollywood flick, Isn’t It Romantic? with Rebel Wilson and Adam Divine.
