When we talk about one power couple of Bollywood who has redefined the meaning of #RelationshipGoals, #MarriageGoals and #CoupleGoals, the first name that we can think of is of Ram and his Leela i.e., Ranveer Singh and his wife, Deepika Padukone. Ranveer had never shied away from expressing his love, affection and care for Deepika. From his very first meeting with Deepika, he knew that she will be the mother of his kids and was head-over-heels in love with her. The duo had initially kept their relationship under the wraps and oh man, how wonderfully they had managed to keep everything private; from their relationship to their marriage. When we had first seen Ranveer Singh singing, ‘Dil Ki Ye Goli Chali Naino Ki Bandook Se’ for Deepika Padukone in the movie, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, we had given them our hearts! Though they had kept their relationship a secret, Ranveer’s fondness for Deepika was enough to spark the rumours about their relationship. The way Ranveer looks at Deepika is just mesmerising and magical! On November 14-15, 2018, Ranveer and Deepika had taken the nuptial vows in the backdrop of Italy. The madly-in-love couple had looked surreal in their wedding ensembles and had given major outfit inspirations to all the would-be married couples.
The movie, Padmaavat was in the news for all the wrong reasons even before its release. But when the movie had released, everyone had loved the acting of all the actors including Ranveer Singh. Ranveer’s portrayal of ‘Khilji’ was much appreciated and he had received a lot of acclaims for his acting and wonderfully portraying the dark character. Ranveer, who had locked himself in his room for a month to prep for his character had once stated that he started behaving like ‘Khilji’ in real life too. But do you know Ranveer had initially turned down the character of ‘Khilji’ because he was in love with Deepika and they were soon going to get married?
Ranveer Singh had recently attended the CNN News 18’s show, Actors’ Roundtable and was asked by the host, Rajeev Masand about that one character he had initially rejected but later agreed to. To this Ranveer stated that he was not to keen about playing ‘Khilji’s’ character. In Ranveer’s word, “I found the character so loathsome, so despicable and so dark, so messed up. It was out of sheer fright and fear that I told Sanjay sir that this might take me into sort of a hole that I may not come out of. I can see myself going a bit barmy on this guy and I don’t know if I was at that stage in my life. I was very happy. DP (Deepika Padukone) and I were gonna get married. It was all roses. Ranveer had won many awards for his character of ‘Khilji’ and it was the producer of the film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali who had convinced him for the role. Ranveer revealed, “I remember that one moment on his balcony eating macchi curry. We were just going back and forth. I was apprehensive and he got frustrated. He could not have said another word to convince me. He just got frustrated, he put his chawal back in his plate like this (slams hands on table aggressively). ‘My boy don’t you want to play a character who’s got 75 kilo ba**s?’ I was like you know what? I mean I’m on.”
In an interview with the Filmfare, Ranveer Singh had revealed about the time when he knew that Deepika is the one. He had said, “Six months into the relationship, I knew she was the one. I nurtured the relationship accordingly. It’s been six years now. She’s too good, too lovely. She’s a force of nature. I understood that almost immediately. I’m lucky to have her. I knew all too well that this is the woman I’m going to marry. This is the woman who would become the mother of my children. I’ve been thinking about marriage seriously for almost three years now. I was just waiting, I told her the minute you say so, we’ll do it.”
When Ranveer Singh had entered Bollywood, Deepika Padukone was an established star but this didn’t stop him from falling in love with her. In an interview with Open Magazine, Deepika had talked about the thing that drew her towards Ranveer and had revealed, “When we started dating six years ago, I was more successful than him, busier than him, making more money. I’ve never come across a man who is so comfortable with my success and the attention I was getting. He was supportive and encouraging of my career and it wasn’t superficial support. That doesn’t happen with many men. He really cared, and I don’t think our relationship would have lasted if not for how he inherently felt about my world and how much he respected it.
