Rupali Ganguly has been experiencing unparalleled popularity for her stint in the show, Anupamaa. Throughout her long-running career of almost two decades in the television fraternity, Rupali has entertained us with her performance in Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasautii Zindagii Kay and many more. However, in the meantime, she had to sacrifice her family time.
In a recent media interaction, the actress revealed how she failed as a mother and what was her businessman husband, Ashwin K Verma’s reaction to her fame. For the unversed, Rupali and Ashwin embraced parenthood for the first time with the arrival of a baby boy, Rudransh, in 2015. After this, she took a hiatus from the small screen until making it big with her comeback in Anupamaa.

Lately, Rupali Ganguly sat for a candid conversation with News18. During the interview, the actress revealed how she successfully returned to television when Rudransh was still a little munchkin and needed utmost care. She lauded Ashwin for being the pillar of strength and always supporting her as a doting hubby. Rupali said that it couldn’t be possible without the help of Ashwin as he took early retirement and shifted from America to India, only to support her dreams. In her words:
“I am blessed that I have a husband who is so supportive. He has taken early retirement and moved from America. It does not matter if I work or not. We do not have big desires.”
Reflecting on why they didn’t opt for househelp to raise their child, Rupali mentioned that her hubby wanted at least one parent to be around Rudransh during his growing-up days. Further, Rupali stated that she probably failed as a mother because she couldn’t be around her son, and Ashwin became a father and mother to their child. Rupali can be quoted as saying:
“He said our child needs one parent. I never left my child with the house help. I didn’t. Not that they are bad. I had a wonderful girl as a caretaker. They are family to me. But I have never actually left my child for work. My husband is very supportive. He believes that our child needs at least one parent. He has been there with Rudransh. He is his mother and father both. I, as a mother, probably have failed. But he has been a father and a mother to my son and a fantastic one.”

Anupamaa has become one of the most-watched TV shows in the recent past. From millennials to Gen Z, everyone has at least watched an episode of the popular show. However, in the interview, Rupali added that her son, Rudransh, had never watched Anupamaa. Stating the reason behind it, she said:
“He has not watched Anupamaa ever. He enters a room, if Anupamaa is on air, he covers his face and leaves. He was six and a half years old when I came to work. Initially, his thought was, Anupamaa is my second family and that’s why his mumma does not spend time with him a lot. I think he misses our time together.”
