On late Dilip Kumar's 99th birth anniversary, his wife, Saira Banu will be stepping out for the first time out of her house after his demise.

The iconic duo of late Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu will always be remembered as the most admired real-life couple in the history of Indian cinema. Despite having an age gap of 22 years, they had never let that become a problem in their happy married life. The beautiful actress had never left her husband even for a day and had stood beside him like a rock till his late day. 

However, Saira Banu's life had turned upside down when the veteran actor, Dilip Kumar had breathed his last on July 7, 2021. In fact, after his death, Saira Banu was so heartbroken by his death that her health had deteriorated and she had even stopped going out of her house. However, the actress has finally decided to come out of her house on the special day of late Dilip Kumar's 99th birth anniversary.

According to a report by ETimes, Saira Banu was invited by the students of Whistling Woods, wherein they have made a mural painting of late actor, Dilip Kumar. Therefore, the actress is invited to the institute to witness the event, where she is expected to reach around 5 pm. When the portal got in touch with Saira Banu, the actress confirmed that she will be gracing the event and said:

''I am quite nervous but I am going."

Ahead of Dilip Kumar's 99th birth anniversary, Saira Banu had penned a heartmelting letter for her late husband, during her conversation with ETimes. In her heartfelt note, Saira Banu had unfolded every chapter of her husband's life, right from his birth to his demise. She had also opened up about how she would celebrate Dilip Kumar's birthday and had stated that it would be a silent and peaceful one. Her emotional letter for her late husband could be read as:

"December 11, 1922. Peshawar, North West Frontier Province in pre-partition India. On the bitter cold night of December 11, while a raging fire fanned by the force of freezing winds was blazing in the Qissa Khwani bazaar in Peshawar, my Jaan, Yousuf Saheb, was born to Ayesha Begum, the beautiful wife of Mohammad Sarvar Khan. Indeed, millions of fans and I (his Fan No. 1) are going to celebrate the day quietly by ourselves knowing fully well that he is with us in our lives forever."

Going further in the letter, Saira Banu had talked about the down-to-earth nature of her husband. Emphasising on Dilip Kumar's quality of not portraying himself as a 'celluloid God' in public, his wife had heaped immense praises on her late husband. Talking about why people used to love him, she had written:

"In his own eyes he was a simple man with a family and a challenging job... nothing more... and certainly not a celluloid God as superstars are sometimes given to believe. Fortunately for me, my mother too brought me up with my feet on the ground despite her success as an actress and the affluence and glamour that accompanies stardomAfter my marriage to Saheb, I had no difficulty in getting accustomed to a life wherein unannounced visitors and guests were received even at odd hours and made to feel comfortable and welcome and were treated to scrumptious meals in true Pathan style."

Saira Banu had concluded on a note that had talked about Dilip Kumar's version of success and how he used to visit roadside stalls without any hesitation of being a superstar. She had recalled one instance from her husband's autobiography in which he had revealed the true meaning of being a superstar and what it had meant for him to be an actor. She had written:

"He went festival and birthday shopping with me without the slightest hesitation and enjoyed a stop at small bhel puri stalls and ice cream cafes much to the consternation of the owners and managers of the joints. When a common man gives me a warm handshake and tells me how much he enjoyed viewing my films, it is the highest award for me,' he has confessed in his autobiography and I know that humility and grace are what sets him apart from the other legends and mega stars."
