Belonging to this list is Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda. Despite how much we wish to see her on-screen, the Nanda-Bachchan beauty has no plans of entering the industry. Quite often, Navya Naveli Nanda’s pictures and videos on social media make it to headlines and this makes us wonder what's keeping her away from Bollywood. On Koffee With Karan Season 6, featuring Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan, Navya Naveli Nanda’s mother expressed her concern for her daughter joining the film industry. Shweta firmly believes that Navya has no business being in the industry just because she comes from a family of famous people, unless she is completely driven, has the talent and feels passionate about it.
Shweta revealed that she doesn’t want her daughter, Navya to go through something that her brother, Abhishek has gone through in his career. Elaborating on the same, she shared, “Absolutely yes! I’m on Instagram and I follow my brother and know the hate he gets. Whether you like him as an actor or not, it will bother to me as a sister. I hated it, it gave me sleepless nights and I don’t want yet another member of my family to be in this business for selfish reasons. Firstly, I don’t know what Navya’s talent is. Just because she is related to some famous people, doesn’t mean she has what she takes.”
Expressing the fear of failure in the showbiz world and why she kept her daughter away from it, Shweta further added, “I think I was excessive, I was unfair, I thought selfishly... One of the bonuses of coming from a family that's in the movies, I know the heartbreak. A couple of years ago, when Navya was asked about making a career in Bollywood during an interaction with Vogue India, she had stated, "No way I'll make a career in acting. I am enjoying my internship at the advertising agency. I love the independence I get in Manhattan."
On Navya’s 21st birthday on December 6, 2018, Shweta shared an adorable picture of six-month-old baby Navya, and it was her birthday wish which won our hearts. The doting mommy wrote, "The years didn’t fly by, they took their time, and you earned every single one of them! We grew up together, you and I, figuring it out as we went along ... here we are at 21 a far cry from this 6-month-old, that I really didn’t know what to make of! HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOUV, you make it look easy, even when it isn’t. I Love U."
