In April 2006, Madurai court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Shilpa Shetty and Reema Sen for publishing obscene photos in a Tamil newspaper. Later, the complaint was dismissed by HC.
In an interview with TOI, Shilpa had said, "As far as my photos go, if navel showing is obscenity, then our traditional Indian outfit, saree should be banned in the first place."
In 2007, she was the only Indian celebrity ever to participate in the international reality show, 'Celebrity Big Brother 5'. During the show, she was reportedly targeted with racist comments.
While on one side, some people were standing tall with her, some had also accused the makers and Shilpa of showing racism in order to increase TRP. Eventually, she had come out to be the winner.
The love between the duo had blossomed during the film, 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari'. After parting ways, Shilpa had opened up about the betrayal and heartbreak in a media interview in 2000.
According to Shilpa, the reason for her breakup with Akshay was the fact that he was two-timing with her best friend, Twinkle Khanna. However, Shilpa had never blamed Twinkle for the same.
In 2007, Shilpa Shetty had attended an AIDS-awareness event alongside Hollywood actor, Richard Gere. During the event, Richard could be seen hugging and kissing Shilpa on the cheeks repeatedly.
Their action had angered everyone, so much so, that Rajasthan court had issued a warrant for Shilpa and Richard's arrest. However, Supreme Court had dismissed the suit.
In February 2021, a woman had approached the Mumbai police, busting the racket publishing pornographic content with Shilpa Shetty's husband, Raj Kundra's alleged involvement.
Shilpa had reportedly served as the director in her husband, Raj's company, Viaan Industries, however it is said that she had resigned from the position. However, investigation is still going on.
