Dr. Komi Vyas' cousin brother, Parag Mehta, shared that her mortal remains have not yet been found. The family has been lost.
Dr. Pratik Joshi, his wife, Dr. Komi Vyas, and their three kids, including a five-year-old daughter and twin sons, passed away in the devastating Air India plane crash. The Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner was headed for London from Ahmedabad International Airport when, after takeoff, it crashed in 38 seconds in a medical college area. Now, Dr. Komi Vyas' cousin brother, Parag Mehta, shared how Komi's mortal remains have yet not been traced, but her husband, late Dr. Pratik and their three kids' bodies have been identified. For Parag, Komi was more than his cousin, like his little sister, his daughter.
Dr. Komi was all set to start her new life in London with her husband, Dr. Pratik and their three children. Parag, in an interview with Official Humans Of Bombay, shared that his heart sank when, after his masi told him about the Ahmedabad plane crash, he checked the passenger list name after name. In the end, the ill-fated names of Komi Vyas, Pratik Joshi, Miraya Joshi, Parduyt Joshi & Nakul Joshi were there. Parag called Komi's father to hear that she was fine, but it was as if they were hit by a truck, and they kept calling from minutes to hours. Parag shared how Komi's body has not yet been discovered and shared:
"They called Mausa ji the next day to collect DNA samples. They kept saying, ‘Jald pata chalega,’ but still…nothing. It’s been 4 days. Pratik & the kid’s mortal remains have been identified, but Komi’s are nowhere to be found. People in our home haven’t eaten or slept for days. We’re all lost…This isn’t something you prepare for…What do we do?"
Dr. Pratik Joshi and his family were wiped out in the aeroplane crash. Parag had raised Komi, played with her, grew with her and saw her become the most beautiful lady. He fondly recollected how Komi used to like Parag's singing and used to always appreciate. In 2012, she married Prateek in an arranged marriage, and love bloomed between them, and all were happy. However, for the Joshi and Vyas family, this aeroplane crash gave a blow as initially no traces of Komi, Prateek or the kids were found. Parag was managing Komi's mom and remembered:
"There, I kept pacing in front of the TV. The news said, ‘Ahmedabad plane crash–passengers, crew ki koi khabar nahi.’ I couldn’t stop replaying Komi’s last message–barely an hour ago, a happy selfie of the 5 of them in our family group. You know, Komi aur meri tuning hi alag thi. Vaise toh hum cousins the, but our bond was deeper...I knew her inside out–she was dedicated, particular about everything. First studies, then job, & later, her family…the kids."
Parag further shared that both Komi and her husband, who were doctors, wanted a better life for their children. Pratik was practising in London for the past few years and had come to India to take his family. It was in a few weeks that they packed their full lives just in a couple of bags, to start a new future which never saw the light of day.
