Anant Ambani has been appointed to an executive role at Reliance Industries after the results from the quarterly report showcased strong growth.
Anant Ambani is the youngest son of Reliance Industries Chairman, Mukesh Ambani and his wife, Nita Ambani. He has always been known for his impressive work towards environment preservation and wildlife. Also, Anant, who turned 30, has been playing a pivotal role in Reliance's group initiative towards sustainability as they aim to be a net-zero carbon company by 2035. But, the younger son of the Ambani clan has now received bigger responsibility with his appointment as a 'whole-time director' at Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). The decision comes after the announcement of the company's quarterly report.
Anant Ambani, who served as a non-executive director on the board of Reliance Industries, has received a new role. On April 25, 2025, the company's quarterly reports were announced, along with the decision to appoint Anant as a 'whole-time director' for a five-year term, which will begin on May 1, 2025. However, the appointment has subject to approval by the shareholders. The new change in Anant's position as an executive at India's largest company by market value is a big development in Reliance to solidify its next-generation leadership.
The board approved the decision by acting on an official recommendation of the Human Resources, Nomination and Remuneration Committee. Anant Ambani's new appointment further strengthens the involvement of the Ambani clan in Reliance Industries. With this new role, he has become one of the youngest people to be appointed as a whole-time director. Meanwhile, his elder brother, Akash Ambani, is the chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, and his sister, Isha Ambani Piramal, leads the Reliance Retail Business. She is the executive director of Reliance's Retail ventures.
Initially, it was decided that Mukesh Ambani's kids, Akash, Isha and Anant, wouldn't get a fixed salary, unlike other executive directors. Anant earned through a total of his sitting fee, a commission on the profit earned Reliance and potential reimbursements for business-related expenses. Consequently, the specific figures of the Ambani siblings aren't known. But, in 2024, Times Of India reported that his earnings package reached approximately Rs. 4.2 crore per anum.
Anant Ambani was born on April 6, 1995. He completed his schooling at Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai, and later pursued higher studies at Brown University, USA. Anant majored in Business Management and has a deep knowledge of business and economics. Apart from his initiative for environmental preservation and wildlife, he has been a board member of multiple Reliance group entities. It includes Jio Platforms, Reliance Retail Ventures, Reliance New Energy and Reliance New Solar Energy. Anant also serves as a board member of the Reliance Foundation, headed by his mom, Nita Ambani as of September 2022.
