Aruna Irani revealed why she and Kuku Kohli did not have kids and shared of not having courage like Neena Gupta.
Veteran actress, Aruna Irani has etched a name for herself with her movies and songs and is best known for her vampire-like roles. It was in 1990 when she got married to Kuku Kohli, a filmmaker who had launched Ajay Devgn in the movie, Phool Aur Kante. Aruna had earlier loved Mehmood, but as he was married, his wife did not allow both of them to work. They parted ways as Aruna wanted to settle down, but Mehmood could not fulfil the same. Aruna then became Kuku's deewani, who was also married. The actress shared why she did not have kids with the filmmaker despite being married.
For the unversed, veteran actress, Neena Gupta had Masaba with West Indies cricket legend, Vivian Richards while being unmarried. Now, Aruna, in a recent interview with Lehren, shared that she was her dad's second wife's daughter, as her dad got married twice. When Aruna's dad first married, his wife could not produce kids and then when he married for the second time, Aruna was born. In her words:
"Woh mujhe pasand nahi tha. Mujhe aisa lagta tha. Ke mere bacche woh face nahi kare. Aaj kal toh shadi nahi bhi hui thi tab bhi you can have a child. Neena Gupta ji ko dekhke mujhe lagta hai yeh courage hai. I didn't have the courage. I didn't want my child to face anything. A child's mind goes through a lot. Bacche ke bagair mujhe chal jayega but I didn't want my kid to suffer."
Aruna had also shared that she tried to leave Kuku to marry someone else so that he could live with his family peacefully. However, Kuku did not let that happen. When asked why she fell for Kuku, who was already married, and repeated the same pattern like her relationship with Mehmood, she noted:
"Kabhi kabhi aap woh galli mein ghus jaate ho. Kuch samajh nahi aata. One way galli hoti hai. Aap hatna bhi chaaho toh hat nahi sakte. Insaan kabhi akela hota hai aur kisise kuch mann lag jaata hai na toh you get carried away. Aaj aapko khushi milti hai na toh aap bhul jaate ho ke kal kaisa dukh hoga."
Aruna reportedly hated Kuku during the initial phase of their relationship. She met her Kukuji during the making of Kohram, and at that time was doing many movies to make ends meet. However, the roles were not soul-satisfying. Kuku was upset when Aruna could not give time to his movie, Kohram, despite asking for months in advance when she was shooting in Madras. Aruna later in the interview also shared that she and Kuku used to fight, which was why they didn't have kids, and she did not want to sit at home. She shared:
"I used to think, 'He is a married man, he has his own house. If I have my kids and if they ask about their father, uss wakhat main isko kya jawab du.' Hamare bhi jhagde ho jaate. Agar mera baccha tumko chahta hai aur tum ho nahi toh what is the meaning of this relationship. We are happy without having kids. Agar main baccha karti toh mujhe ghar hi baithna padta. Bacha koi maid ke liye nahi karna."
What are your views on Aruna Irani not having kids with Kuku Kohli, as she was not as confident as Neena Gupta?
