Imran Khan's ex-wife, Avantika Malik talked about the struggles when she had to walk away from her marriage. She shared how her childhood trauma on her parents' split left her stuck.
Imran Khan is one of the most successful Bollywood actors, who carved a special place in the hearts of his fans with his acting skills in his movies, even though there were not many. Just like his professional life, his personal life also was a topic of discussion among his fans. Imran Khan was married to his long-time girlfriend, Avantika Malik. The duo started dating back in 2002, and in 2011, they hopped onto their forever journey. In 2014, the duo welcomed their first kid. However, problems started cropping up between the duo, and in 2019, they called it quits.
Avantika Malik, time and again, talked about the struggles she had to face during her separation from Imran Khan. In a recent conversation with Nayandeep Rakshit, Avantika shared that it was really tough for her to walk away from her marriage with the actor. She shared that it happened due to the emotional kind of person she is. In the same interview, Avantika mentioned that there had been another reason that walking away from her marriage felt this tough to her.
Avantika Malik said that during her childhood, she had seen her parents' split, and this was the reason she always used to think that she would have to make her marriage work at any cost. She further stated that she was too into the fact that the reality of her childhood couldn't be the reality of her as an adult. Stating that the fear was too deep, which made it even harder to walk away, Avantika said:
“I would have found it very difficult to walk away and to say this is it. It is mostly because of the kind of human being I am. I am extremely emotional. Another reason is that because my parents marriage didn’t work, I thought I always had this pressure to make mine work. I was too adamant that what was my reality as a child cannot be my reality as an adult. That fear was too deep to walk away.”
In the same interview, Avantika Malik shared that one of the hardest things that she had to do was to walk out of Imran Khan's house with their daughter. She stated that it was the worst thing that she had to face in her life, and she's actually grateful for those who held her close until she was ready for a comeback. In Avantika's words:
"It was very hard. It was the worst thing I had to go through. You just don’t know anything anymore. I am very blessed that I had so many people on my corner. My friends, family and my extended family held me together until I could hold myself.”
Imran Khan's ex-wife, Avantika Malik, time and again, admitted that it was one of the hardest things that she had to do. Earlier, talking to Janice Sequiera, Avantika shared that she had cried inconsolably on the day she and Imran decided that they would have to part ways. Avantika said that she never thought that she would survive without Imran, and this came from her childhood trauma and 'daddy issues'.
Avantika further added that she has seen her mom wearing the fact that she was divorced with pride, and similarly, it was not an issue or embarrassment for her, but rather it was extremely tough for her to go through. She further shared her daughter's reaction to her split and mentioned that Imara had a whole lot of questions about her and Imran's split initially. Avantika added that Imara even asked her if she was going to get a new mom. Avantika also shared that she and Imran have joint custody, and their daughter spends half of her time with her mom and the rest with her dad.
