The shaadi season is in full swing once again at the legendary Akkineni house. After Naga Chaitanya, it’s time for his brother, Akhil Akkineni, to tie the knot. The younger son of Nagarjuna announced his engagement to the love of his life, Zainab Ravdjee, in November 2024, days before his brother Chay’s wedding on December 4, 2024. After a long wait, the day is finally here. Akhil and Zainab are getting married today, on June 6, 2025. Ahead of the exchange of vows, it was the baarat that stole the spotlight, especially thanks to some heart-thumping dance moves from none other than Nagarjuna himself.
Videos and pictures from the grand baarat ceremony at Hyderabad’s Annapurna Studios have surfaced on the internet, and it was the groom’s father, Nagarjuna, who stole the show. Dressed in a simple yet regal kurta, the 64-year-old actor didn’t shy away from showing his moves on stage as the DJ blasted the music.
Later, the elder brother of the groom, Naga Chaitanya, also joined the celebration, grooving to the beats as he handled the fog machine to add to the lit atmosphere. The Akkineni men surely owned the baarat celebration like rock stars.
After last night’s electrifying baarat, Naga Chaitanya is back on his brotherly duties since early morning as the family prepares for Akhil and Zainab’s wedding today. In the wee hours, Chay was seen arriving at the grandly lit Annapurna Studios by car, accompanied by his wife and actress, Sobhita Dhulipala. The actor looked dapper in a cream kurta, while Shobhita turned heads in a shimmery golden saree and a full-sleeved blouse. Paps also captured Ram Charan, Chiranjeevi and Surekha arriving at the venue.
Akhil Akkineni and Zainab Ravdjee got engaged in an intimate ceremony at the Akkineni residence on November 26, 2024. Akhil had shared the happy news on Instagram, writing, “Found my forever.” They are exchanging vows today, on June 6, 2025, to become Mr and Mrs officially.
Just like Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala’s wedding, Akhil and Zainab are also getting married in a grand yet intimate wedding, held at their family studio, the iconic Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad. The wedding venue carries deep sentimental value for the Akkineni clan. It was founded by Akhil’s legendary grandfather, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, and also hosted Chay and Sobhita’s wedding last year.
The bride, Zainab, is a woman of many talents. She is an artist, entrepreneur, and former actress. Known for her abstract paintings and a short stint in MF Hussain’s Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities, Zainab comes from an influential Hyderabad-based business family. Her father, Zulfi Ravdjee, is a respected industrialist, and her brother runs a renewable energy company.
Post-wedding, Akhil will return to the silver screen with Lenin, an action drama directed by Murali Kishore Abburu, co-starring Sreeleela. The film is scheduled for release in November 2025.
