Horror movie lovers are in for a treat for the Halloween Week as Zach Cregger's mysterious horror flick, 'Weapons' is streaming on OTT.
One of the scariest films of 2025, Weapons, has been receiving widespread acclaim since its August 8, 2025, release. Weapons, directed by Zach Cregger, is a follow-up to the 2022 word-of-mouth hit, Barbarian. It tells the haunting story of 17 children of grade three going missing in a single night. Now, amid Halloween Week, the film has arrived on OTT.
And just a week before Halloween, Horror flick fans got a surprise as Zach Cregger’s Weapons is available on OTT. Yes, you read that right: the horror-mystery starring Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, and Alden Ehrenreich is currently streaming on HBO Max. All you need is a monthly or annual subscription to HBO Max to watch Weapons.
Weapons centres on a chilling storyline set in the fictional town of Maybrook, Illinois. At the beginning of the film, a disturbing event happens where 17 schoolchildren vanish at midnight. All the kids were in the same class, and only one boy, 'Alex Lilly', was left behind. Months pass, and the children reappear. Parents blame the class teacher, 'Justin' and she gets questioned by the police. Soon, the principal sends Justin on leave.
From here, the narrative unfolds through six interconnected perspectives. Each story gradually reveals pieces of the horrifying puzzle. Viewers are drawn into eerie visuals of children walking in a trance-like state, some barefoot, some in pyjamas, heading silently into the night. As the investigation moves further, one mysterious boy, 'Alex', who was left behind, begins to emerge as the key to what really happened, leaving everyone in shock.
As the teacher, 'Justine Gandy' searches for the kids, they are drawn into a terrifying web of nightmares, possession, and witchcraft linked to a mysterious woman named ‘Gladys’ played by Amy Madigan. Soon, it becomes clear that the missing children are being controlled by a dark ritual rooted in the supernatural. In the end, the kids get hold of 'Gladys' and feed on her like prey. Although they survive after the incident, it leaves an emotional scar on them. Some regain the ability to speak within a year.
Weapons was made on a budget of 38 million USD. The cast included Julia Garner as 'Justine Gandy', a traumatised teacher, and Josh Brolin as 'Archer Graff', a father desperately seeking answers. The supporting cast includes Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong, and Cary Christopher.
