Aayush Sharma has been one such actor who has continued to make his every stride count in the film industry. After making a not-so-successful debut with Loveyatri in 2018, the actor has worked hard and engaged in the continuous process of building and modifying his talents in order to offer a magical spectrum on the celluloid. While his other identity of being Salman Khan’s brother-in-law has definitely helped in scaffolding quite a few opportunities on his plate, Aayush, at the end, has always made it a point to justify his calibre nonetheless.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Aayush Sharma talked about the first time that he walked through the doors of the iconic Mehboob Studio in Mumbai. He revealed how at that time, he chose to become one of the background dancers for Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s iconic party track, Dilliwali Girlfriend from the film, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, so that he could fathom what a film shoot would mean. He further revealed witnessing stars like Ranbir, Deepika and Kalki entering the sets, and how it helped his dream of becoming an assistant director. In his words:
“The first time I came to Mehboob Studios was for Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. Someone told me why are you working as a background dancer. I said that I wanted to see what a film set looks like and to see how the shoots happen. At one point, I wanted to become a casting director, thinking that I could get on the set through this. I remember I had a shoot for YJHD at Mehboob Studios. It was a beautiful moment as there were 300-400 background dancers and I was one of them. Then I saw Manish Malhotra, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, and then I saw Ranbir Kapoor entering the set for Dilliwali Girlfriend song shoot.”

Talking more about his initial struggling days, Aayush opened up about the multiple and sometimes extremely brutal rejections he faced back in the days, when he used to give tons of auditions. The actor remembered a particular incident, wherein a casting director rudely asked him to get out of his office. Adding hilariously, how those directors now praise him for the work he has done, Aayush said:
“I hold my memories close to me. Its funny sometimes to think that some casting directors have rejected me before and now when I meet them, they tell me I liked your films. They don’t even remember that they rejected me before.”
In one of his other interactions with Bollywood Hungama, Aayush Sharma admitted that his brother-in-law, Salman Khan has been incredibly supportive in his career. From launching the former under his wings to collaborating with Aayush for a film, Salman Khan has indeed made a few things easier for Aayush Sharma. Expressing his gratitude, the latter said:
“You don’t get to play such an important role in your second film, in a movie which has Salman. It was not a guest appearance of 5-7 minutes, he was an important character in the film. Somewhere down the line, the story revolves around my character. This opportunity you don’t get (often), but I got it. I have to be grateful, understand that this is the biggest support I can ever get. Now the journey has to be mine.”

In the same interview, Aayush Sharma then talked about his decision to move away from the umbrella of support offered to him by Salman Khan and his production house, Salman Khan Films. Citing the reason for the same, the Loveyatri actor emphasised the need to finding his own footfall in the showbiz. Moreover, Aayush added that he desired to achieve more in his career, so that he was worthy of being called back to his brother-in-law’s production house.
