Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan are one of the love-dovey couples of the B-town. The couple got married back in 2007, and since then, they have been shelling out major couple goals. Well, since the last few years, reports have been rife that something is off between Aishwarya and Abhishek, and they might part ways. Abhishek and Aishwarya never reacted to the same buzz, but they dismissed the same with their joint appearance and the actor's cutesy revelations about his wife.
Recently, Abhishek Bachchan shared how his then-GF, Aishwarya helped him when Mani Ratnam threw one of his 'googlies' at him during the shoot of Guru. During his conversation at G5A Cinema House’s Mani Ratnam retrospective, Abhishek Bachchan walked down the memory lane and talked about the time when he was shooting for the movie, Guru.
Abhishek, along with Aishwarya arrived at Karnataka’s Badami in May for the shoot, and during a day off, Mani Ratnam arrived at their guest house and told the actor to rehearse for a song with the choreographer. Abhishek was shocked as they were supposed to shoot for a scene, and Mani Ratnam asked him to be prepared for a song. Sharing how Mani Ratnam's googly came along his way, Abhishek said:
"We were staying in a guest house and it was a day off. Mani came and said, ‘Brinda (choreographer Brinda Gopal) is there, go rehearse, we’re doing a song.’ I said, ‘We’re not supposed to be doing a song; we’re shooting Gurukant Desai’s younger portions.’ When I went down, Brinda master was standing there, totally flummoxed. That’s when I realised Mani had thrown one of his googlies.”
For the movie, Abhishek Bachchan had to put on weight, and he was given two months for the same. The movie featured the lead character's early and older ages, and the actor was yet to shoot some scenes from the younger portions. However, the song, for which Mani Ratnam was asking Abhishek to prepare needed the actor to look a bit heavier. Well, it was Aishwarya and the costume designer, who had to stitch a suit by using kambals the whole night, which the actor wore at 60 degrees Celsius. Abhishek can be quoted as saying:
"He had previously given me two months to gain weight. That night, I still remember, Ameira (costume designer Ameira Punvani) and Aishwarya made a fat suit for me by stitching kambals (blankets) together. Then they took some shady grey stuff and put it on my hair. He (Mani) was like, ‘shave your head’. I said, ‘But, we are still shooting the younger portions.’ Amid all this, I was performing to a click track.”
Abhishek Bachchan has been winning hearts with his latest release, I Want To Talk. Well, during his conversation with CNBC-TV18, Abhishek reacted to being compared with his family members. From Amitabh Bachchan, and Jaya Bachchan to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek has been facing nonstop comparisons with his family members in terms of his professional front. Reacting to this, the actor said if someone compares him to the 'best', which is his father, then he considers himself to be worthy of the same. He further added that his father, his mom, and his wife, everyone is his family and he feels utterly proud of them.
