The entire nation is mourning the death of the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar, who passed away on January 28, 2026. He lost his life after his plane crashed at the Baramati airport. Recently, the trustee of Vidya Pratishthan, Kiran shared details on Ajit Pawar's last rites while talking to ANI. Kiran mentioned that the mortal remains of the political leader will be kept in Vidya Pratishthan ground for the public to pay their respect and tribute on January 28, 2026. And the next day, his last rites will be held at 11a.m. Kiran was quoted as saying:
"The mortal remains of Ajit Pawar will be kept at Vidya Pratishthan ground for the public to pay their last respects today. The last rites will be conducted tomorrow at 11 am."

Recently, the Maharashtra CM, Devendra Fadnavis opened up about Ajit Pawar's tragic death in a plane crash. He announced a state holiday on Ajit Pawar's death and three days of mourning. All state government offices in Maharashtra will remain closed on January 28, 2026. He further opened up on Ajit Pawar's death and described it as a personal loss. He had shared:
"Ajit Dada was a hardworking leader and did not shake in any circumstances. It is a difficult day for Maharashtra. It takes time to develop such leadership. He had major contribution to Maharashtra's development. His demise is shocking, and for me, it's a personal loss; a friend has left me. It's a very big loss for the family."

For those who do not know, Ajit Pawar passed away on January 28, 2026, at 8:45 a.m. It is worth mentioning that the exact reason behind the plane crash has not been revealed. As soon as the heartbreaking news went viral, his wife, Sunetra Pawar reached Baramati to see her husband. In the clips that are going viral, Sunetra can be seen dressed in a golden-hued saree. She looked completely devastated by the incident.

Ajit Pawar was one of the most influential political leaders from Maharashtra. Over the years, he held multiple positions. In his personal life, he was married to Sunetra Pawar, who is the daughter of former Maharashtra minister, Padamsinh Bajirao Patil. The couple had two sons, Parth and Jay Pawar. Coming to Ajit's sudden death, an eyewitness had recalled the tragic incident and shared:

"We rushed here and saw that the aircraft was on fire. There were four to five explosions in the aircraft again. More people came here, and they tried to pull the people out. But since this was a huge fire, people could not help."
According to a report by Free Press Journal, Ajit Pawar had a net worth of 45.37 crore. He was one of the richest political leaders from Maharashtra. Reportedly, a few minutes before the tragic plane crash, Ajit Pawar had shared a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle. He had shared a tribute to freedom fighter, Lala Lajpat Rai. However, his post was soon deleted.
