Akshay Kumar Cheated On Shilpa Shetty For Twinkle Khanna, 'Never Imagined That He Could Two-Time Me'

Akshay Kumar is one of the top actors in Bollywood, and he is hailed for his powerpack action sequences. One of the most bankable actors in Hindi cinema, Akshay, is married to former actress, Twinkle Khanna, daughter of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. Akshay and Dimple are leading a happy life with their kids, Aarav and Nitara.

Though Akshay leads the life of a devoted husband, the actor has a rough past and is linked with many B-town beauties. From Rekha to Raveena Tandon, all his link-ups used to be the hot talk of the tinsel town. However, it was his ugly breakup with Shilpa Shetty which garnered a lot of limelight during that period. It was reported that Akshay had left Shilpa for Twinkle.

When Shilpa Shetty accused Akshay Kumar of cheating on her

Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty’s love bloomed when the two worked together in the film, Main Khiladi Tu Anari. The duo was seen head-over-heels in love with one another and were spotted together at many events. Just like their highly-publicised affair, their breakup too was public. Shilpa found out about Akshay two-timing her with Twinkle and broke up with him.

In a throwback interview in 2000, Shilpa bared her heart out about Akshay being unfaithful towards her. Elaborating on the same, Shilpa said:

“I never imagined that he could two-time me, and that too all along our relationship. No, I'm not at all upset with her. What's her fault if my man was cheating on me? There is no point blaming any other woman, it was entirely his fault.”

Going further in the interview, Shilpa also stated that Akshay two-timed her, and he conveniently dropped her after falling in love with Twinkle. In the same interaction, Shilpa also stated that she would never work with him. In her words:

“Akshay Kumar used me and conveniently dropped me after he found someone else. The only person, I was upset with, was him. But I'm sure he'll get it all back. It's not easy to forget the past so soon, but I'm glad I've had the strength to move on. Today, he's a forgotten chapter as far as I'm concerned. I will never work with him again."

It was during the making of the film, Dhadkan that Shilpa found out about Akshay and Twinkle. During the course of her interview, Shilpa stated that she wanted to wrap the film as she didn’t want her equation with Akshay to affect the film and the producers. Although her personal life was turning into shambles, she couldn’t let it hamper the film.

On the other hand, Akshay Kumar denied all the allegations levied upon him by Shilpa at that time. He even went on to say that Shilpa should not make such a scandal out of the issue. To this, Shilpa retorted:

"That's his opinion, not mine. After what he did with me, what else could he say?" 

Akshay Kumar’s love story with Twinkle Khanna

Akshay Kumar met Twinkle Khanna during a shoot for Filmfare magazine, and Akshay was smitten by Twinkle. However, it was actually during the shooting of their film, International Khiladi, when the two had fallen in love with one another. During the shoot of International Khiladi, Twinkle had developed an interest in this ‘six feet of chocolate ice cream' as a rebound from her failed relationship.

Shilpa Shetty and Akshay Kumar have let bygones be bygones and currently share a friendly equation with one another.
