Akshay Kumar is one of the most prominent actors in the Hindi film industry. His versatile acting skills, impeccable comic timing, commitment to fitness and unfiltered nature are admired by fans. Akshay's work and successful films spoke for him in the past decade, but the scenario was a little different in the 90s. For those unaware, the actor made his debut in 1987, and for a couple of years, his alleged love affairs with female co-stars were equally popular along with his work. In a recent interview, his former co-star, Sheeba Akashdeep opened up about her bond with Akshay Kumar and revealed whether the rumours about her relationship with him were true.
Sheeba Akashdeep recently sat down for an interview with Pinkvilla and recalled working with Akshay Kumar on their 1992 film, Mr. Bond. She revealed that she and the Housefull actor shared a strong friendship on set, and during the shoot, their feelings for each other began to grow. Recalling how working closely with each other contributed to their relationship, Sheeba stated:
"When you are young and working in close proximity, ho jata hai ishq. (You fall in love)."
Apart from their friendship and the opportunity to work together, several other commonalities between her and Akshay played a significant role in their relationship. For instance, Akshay and Sheeba were equally committed towards fitness. At the same time, their families shared a close bond, to the extent that her nani would play cards with his mother. However, describing what went wrong between them, Sheeba said:
"We were both kids. I don't even talk about it. I find it so funny. What's there to talk about it? I don't even remember much stuff from that time. It's been over three decades."
In the same conversation, Sheeba was asked if she continues to share a friendly bond with her ex-boyfriends. In her response, the actress explained that many emotions are involved when someone dates at a young age and continuing to stay friends is much more difficult. However, things can change when that person becomes mature. In her words:
"Not when you are very young, very emotional. You are so emotional that you are unable to be normal after that for the longest time. Young love is very passionate and powerful, and it's like an explosion. So when that explosion happens, it has to come down… Friendship doesn't survive. There's just too much invested in a relationship to be friends later. It just doesn't happen unless you are really mature."
