Amitabh Bachchan Couldn't Sleep After Aishwarya Rai's Fatal Accident, 'Her Back Was Lacerated...'

Aishwarya Rai added Bachchan to her surname when she tied the knot with Abhishek Bachchan in 2007. The actress has worked with her father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan, in many films. However, years before her wedding, when Aishwarya and Amitabh worked together in the film, Khakee, the actress met with a terrible accident during the shoot.

It so happened that a stuntman, who was driving too fast, lost control and rammed the car into Aishwarya’s chair. The actress was caught off guard by the speeding vehicle and got so badly hurt that she was rushed to the hospital. During a conversation with Rediff, Big B revealed what exactly happened and said:

“We were shooting for Rajkumar Santoshi's Khakee on the road outside Nashik. The stuntman drove too fast, at 60, 70 kilometres per hour, and skidded. All of us jumped out of the way. But Aishwarya Rai and Tusshar Kapoor couldn't move fast enough. The car slammed into her chair. It was terrifying.”

The car which hit her slammed her into a cactus plant. She was rushed to the hospital, and Amitabh Bachchan organised Anil Ambani’s private plane for the actress. The plane was landed at the military base as there was no night landing facility in Nashik, and Mr Bachchan sought permission from Delhi to land the plane at the base.

However, when the media portals brushed away the accident without giving any relevance to it, Mr Bachchan couldn’t let it go. In the same interview, the veteran actor the serious consequences of the accident and said:

“For two nights I couldn’t sleep. To see this happen in front of my eyes! Her back was lacerated with cactus thorns. The bone in the rear portion of her feet is broken. She suffered severe cuts. And her injury was reported as trivial.”

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are the power couple of the glamour world. The duo fell in love on the sets of Dhoom 2 and finally got married on April 20, 2007. In 2011, the couple welcomed their daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, who is one of the most loved celeb kids. Over the period, Aishwarya has proved to be a doting wife and daughter-in-law.

Abhishek and Aishwarya have been married for 17 years, and there have been constant rumours about their separation for some time. Neither Aishwarya nor Abhishek have commented on the same, but the grapevine has it that the couple is parting ways.

Over the years, Aishwarya has become an integral part of the Bachchan clan.  Moreover, her father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan, adored his bahu and often praised her. A proof of the same we witnessed in the season finale episode of Starry Nights 2.Oh!, when Big B was asked how the family dynamics changed after Abhishek and Aishwarya's wedding. To which the loving sasurji said:

"Nothing has changed for us, it was like one daughter left and another one came in."
