We remember there was a time when fathers only knew how to be the bread-earners of the family. Forget about handling 'daddy duties' like changing diapers, taking the kids for a stroll or simply spending a day with them. They were not aware of their children's aspirations or dreams. But Bollywood superstar, Amitabh Bachchan was way ahead of his time! He excelled in his fatherly duties and treated his daughter, Shweta Bachchan like a princess and his son, Abhishek Bachchan like a best friend. Amitabh ji had tied the knot with Jaya ji on June 3, 1973, and a year after, the duo became parents to an adorable baby girl, whom they had named Shweta Bachchan. On February 5, 1976, the family of three became four when Abhishek Bachchan entered their world. He had decided that the moment Abhishek starts borrowing his shoes, he would become his friend.
Not many know that Abhishek was born on the occasion of Basant Panchmi in 1976. Amitabh ji is extremely close to his son, Abhishek. In a throwback interview with the PTI, Abhishek had talked about his father, Amitabh ji's success and had said, "One must stay in their limits only. I think one must aim for Mars... forget about reaching the Sun. It is not going to happen. It is the same with him. He is the biggest, was, is and is ever going to be. So don't aspire to be that because it is not going to happen. Aspire to be your own man and achieve your own goals."
Abhishek had talked about his relationship with his father for a book titled, Abhishek Bachchan: Style And Substance. He had stated, "It was Dada (his paternal grandfather) who said that a son ceases to be a son the day he can fit into his father's shoes. We both wear size 10 and I fit into Pa's shoes at the age of 14. When he would leave for an out-of-town schedule, Pa would request me to look after my Ma and sister. Whenever we would be caught in a crowd, his index finger would drop right before my eyes and I would clutch at it. Ma and Shwetdi would be there, trailing behind us and he would say, while holding my hand, 'Come, let's look after the women'. He would encourage me, even as a kid, to take charge of situations."
