Aamir-Salman's Cult Comedy 'Andaz Apna Apna' Re-Release Bags Over Rs. 1.2 Cr In 3 Days At Box Office

Whoever says old films are boring has been proven wrong, as Bollywood’s beloved cult classic, Andaz Apna Apna, made a roaring comeback. The Aamir-Salman starrer received a warm welcome on its opening weekend, pulling audiences back to theatres to see the classic comedy come alive on the big screen. The 1994 gem has made an impressive comeback, earning over Rs. 1 crore in just three days.

Andaz Apna Apna hits theatres once again

Bollywood’s iconic laughter riot, Andaz Apna Apna, is back in the theatres, and it feels like 1994 all over again, only this time, it came with a 4K version and Dolby 5.1 sound. Fans are flocking to the theatres to see their beloved comedic cast come to life after its release on April 25, 2025. 

Within just three days, the film earned Rs. 1.2 crore at the domestic box office. Andaz Apna Apna collected Rs. 25.75 lakh on Day 1, Rs. 45.50 lakh on Day 2, and Rs. 51.25 lakh on Day 3, despite stiff competition from new releases like Jaat, Kesari Chapter 2, and Ground Zero.

Andaz Apna Apna was originally a flop, only to become a cult classic later

When it was originally released in 1994, Andaz Apna Apna was actually considered a commercial flop. Despite the star-studded cast, including Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Paresh Rawal and Shakti Kapoor, the film could earn only around Rs. 5.15 crore at the Indian box office. 

Despite being made on a budget of Rs. 3 crore, a relatively high budget during that era, Andaz Apna Apna could not receive much fame initially. However, over the years, it gained a cult status among movie lovers, thanks to its slapstick humour, quirks and memorable dialogues. 

This time around, the reception has been much better than expected. Presented in its digitally restored version, Andaz Apna Apna is bringing in fans from all ages to laugh together and mouth the iconic punchlines, from "Teja main hoon, mark idhar hai" to "Crime Master Gogo, Mogambo ka bhatija."

About the film

Andaz Apna Apna, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, stars Aamir Khan and Salman Khan as ‘Amar’ and ‘Prem’, two small-town dreamers competing to win over ‘Raveena’, a wealthy heiress, played by Raveena Tandon. Things become chaotic as ‘Raveena’ swaps identities with her secretary, ‘Karisma’ (played by Karisma Kapoor), leading to a series of hilarious misunderstandings. Other iconic characters from the film include ‘Teja’ (Paresh Rawal) and ‘Crime Master Gogo’ (Shakti Kapoor).

With its re-release, Andaz Apna Apna’s total box office collection currently stands at Rs. 5.70 crore net and approximately Rs. 6.72 crore gross, marking a notable improvement compared to its original run. While its earnings may not match the scale of today’s blockbusters, its steady rise at the box office highlights the film’s enduring popularity. Over the past two decades, Andaz Apna Apna has truly cemented its status as a cult-favorite comedy.
