Producer Andrew Gunn has recently passed away on March 2, 2026. Gunn died at his Toronto-based residence, and the news was confirmed by his family. Andrew was 58 years old at the time of his death, and he was battling a neurological degenerative disorder called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis since 2024. Filmmakers and many other well-known personalities from the entertainment industry expressed their grief over Gunn’s sudden demise.
Andrew Gunn was known as the founder of a production company called Gunn Films. The sports comedy film, Eddie, released in 1996, was co-produced by Andrew. He later gained recognition as the producer of the 2003 fantasy comedy film, Freaky Friday. This was followed by other movies like The Haunted Mansion, Sky High, College Road Trip, Bedtime Stories, Race to Witch Mountain, Bad Santa 2, and more. As mentioned, Andrew Gunn became a popular face over the years as the producer of many films. Despite being a famous personality, Andrew opted to keep his personal life away from the limelight. He was a resident of Toronto and married to Jane Bellamy Gunn since 2025. Notably, there are no details available on Jane Bellamy Gunn’s career and profession. Moreover, Jane and Andrew did not share any children.

For the unversed, Andrew was previously married to Julia Gunn from 1997 to 2023. Andrew and Julia had two children, including a daughter named Isabelle and a son named Connor. Isabelle has been active in the camera department, and Connor has handled the props. Although Andrew’s children maintained a distance from the limelight for all these years, he expressed happiness over the fact that they joined him on the set of his movie, Freakier Friday. Back in 2025, Andrew Gunn told The Hollywood Reporter that Isabelle had entered the cinematographers’ union, and he was happy since he could see them every day.

Andrew Gunn stepped into the world of movies shortly after he obtained his master’s degree from the Annenberg School at the University of Southern California. Before he started producing films, Andrew Gunn worked for producer, David Permut. He was later employed at a production company called Great Oaks Entertainment, where he had to look after the development. A few years later, in 2001, he formed his production company called Gunn Films.

Andrew Gunn’s films specifically gained recognition for being comedies that were made on a big budget. They even included a few remakes. Former Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group president, Nina Jacobson, recalled that when Andrew came into the industry, movies were made with “genuine creative exuberance,” and Gunn had that quality inside him. Nina said that this was the reason why the makers took a creative approach while casting for Freaky Friday.

While he was busy producing a lot of films, Andrew Gunn served as an executive producer of the television movie, Minutemen, released in 2008. He also acted in a few films and TV shows like The Gate, Juliet Bravo, and War of the Worlds. He was the writer of the children’s anthology horror show, Freaky. Andrew Gunn’s last film as a producer was Freakier Friday, released in 2025. The movie was a big success and collected USD 153 million at the box office.
