Apoorva Mukhija Reveals She Spoke To Rhea Chakraborty Over Media Trial After IGL, 'She Knew What..'

Apoorva Mukhija, also known as 'The Rebel Kid', became popular online for her unfiltered attitude and relatable rants, which appealed to the young audience. Known for her bold take and witty side, her videos immediately became a topic of discussion on the internet. But the same attributes got the content creator in trouble for her remarks on Samay Raina's India Got Latent. Apoorva, along with other guest judges and the show itself, received legal notices and nationwide hate. Amid everything else, the media collectively highlighted Apoorva's comment and several debates were organised to criticise her words. In a recent interview, the 23-year-old shared how she called up Rhea Chakraborty, who faced a similar situation after the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput and sought some guidance.

Apoorva Mukhija recalls her conversation with Rhea Chakraborty after the IGL stir

Apoorva Mukhija recently sat down for an interview with Yuvaa and opened up about the media trial and mental trauma she had to face after India's Got Latent incident. She emphasised that before her fiasco, the content creation industry never witnessed a media trial of such a high magnitude. Apoorva admitted that she was unprepared for everything that came following that incident and discussed it with Rhea Chakraborty because she faced a major media trial herself in Bollywood after being accused of the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020. Recalling the call, Apoorva said:

"We have not seen a media trial at this scale. Creator industry mein. We have seen the Bollywood industry mein. Shoutout, Rhea Chakraborty. I spoke to her for an hour. I spoke to her on a video call for an hour. She got it. She knew what I was going through."

For those unaware, a media trial refers to a situation when the media criticises or passes a verdict on someone before any legal judgment comes out. Apoorva added that going by her usual self, she wanted to face the situation straightforwardly and talk about it with the people. However, people around her warned that if she spoke when the issue was in the headlines, her words might get twisted, inviting new trouble. Describing how the incident affected her work, the content creator said:

"I didn't realise how much I loved working until I couldn't. I hadn't taken a day off in years—always vlogging, creating, and thinking of brand posts. And suddenly, it was all gone. I lost so much business. Brands said it wasn't a good time to be associated. In one second, everything disappeared."

When Rhea Chakraborty shared how comments by the media comment made her upset

Rhea Chakraborty was accused by Sushant Singh Rajput's family for his demise in 2020, which made her a target of media trial. When she used to go for interrogations, she was hounded by tons of photographers. Media debates were organised to criticise her before the court's verdict came in. Previously, Rhea told Humans Of Bombay that she never thought the whole country would have an opinion about her one day. Whether it was good or bad was another thought. At the same time, she wasn't ever prepared to deal with the hatred that eventually came her way. She was quoted as saying:

"No one prepared me for what was to come. They call me names like chudail, kaala jaadu karne waali, naagin etc, but I really don’t care. It used to upset me earlier."
