AR Rahman has faced a lot of judgements in the past few weeks as his personal life remained the topic of discussion. It all started with his divorce announcement, and things turned ugly when his bassist, Mohini Dey, also announced her divorce within a few hours. People started linking them together. Now, Mohini Dey broke her silence and shared the kind of bond she shared with the Oscar-winning singer.
Mohini Dey, who is a renowned bassist, addressed the baseless rumours circulating on the internet about her linkup with legendary musician, AR Rahman. She not only denied the speculations but also clearly stated that Rahman is 'like a father' to her and has a significant role in her musical journey.

In a video posted on her Instagram handle, Mohini Dey addressed the misinformation and baseless assumptions circulating about her and AR Rahman. She talked about the 8.5 years she worked with AR Rahman for his movies and tours. She even called him like a father to her. Mohini was quoted as saying:
"It is utterly unbelievable to see the amount of misinformation and baseless assumptions/claims against me and @arrahman. I honor my times as a kid working with @arrahman throughout my 8.5 years of working with him for his movies, tours, etc. He is like a father to me."
Mohini further described AR Rahman as an important figure in her journey. She even credited him for his support and the encouragement he gave her, which always played a crucial role in shaping her career. Mohini shared:
"AR Rahman is a legend, and he gave me the freedom to shine in his shows and musical arrangements during recording sessions."
Not only this, Mohini Dey also used it as an opportunity to acknowledge the other father figures in her life, including her late father, Ranjit Barol, who always encouraged her to pursue her dreams. Further, Mohini urged the media and public to respect their privacy and asked them to be sensitive in these strange times. She also asked them not to sensationalise the events of their life.

The 28-year-old bassist also pointed out the age difference between her and AR Rahman, she pointed out how she is almost the same age as the legendary singer's daughters. She said:
"Rahman’s daughters and I are of the same age. This makes these rumors even more ridiculous."
In reply to the baseless and false allegations made by people on the internet, AR Rahman released a notice demanding the removal of the defamatory content within 24 hours. He added that he would be filing a criminal defamation case under section 356 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. And the liable would be punished with two years of imprisonment. The notice is mostly for the YouTubers, who have been sharing clickbait videos with false linkup rumours of the legendary singer.
