Arijit Singh’s first marriage to Ruprekha Banerjee

When it comes to personal matters, Arijit prefers to keep a low profile. According to several reports, in 2013, when Arijit was working as a music programmer, he married Ruprekha Banerjee. Ruprekha was the winner of the reality show, Fame Gurukul. Although the singer never talked about his first marriage, reports say that Arijit married his co-contestant of Fame Gurukul, Ruprekha, which finally led to an ugly divorce.

Arijit and Ruprekha’s seemingly forever journey soon came to an end after their marriage. Arijit’s first marriage didn’t last a year, and the duo headed for divorce. According to reports, the decision to get married was made impulsively and in haste. There have been rumours as well that the singer had to go through an ugly divorce that left him heartbroken.

Arijit Singh tied the knot for the second time with his childhood friend, Koel Roy

After going through a bitter divorce, Arijit Singh moved on in his life and tied the knot with his childhood friend Koel Roy, who was a divorcee. The couple had a hush-hush marriage at Tarapith temple in West Bengal on January 20, 2014. Following the Bengali wedding rituals, Arijit kept his second marriage away from the media glare. Since then, Arijit and Koel have been a happily married couple. Arijit and Koel are parents of three beautiful children- two sons and one daughter from Koel’s previous marriage.

Arijit Singh’s professional achievements

Born on April 25, 1987, in Murshidabad, West Bengal, Arijit hailed from a musical family. Arijit began his musical training when he was just 3 years old by learning Indian classical music and tabla. His mother, Aditi Singh, was his first guru. Arijit started his music career on the reality show Fame Gurukul, where he was voted out by audience polling six weeks before the finale. He got an offer for a song from Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the movie, Saawariya, but it was never released.

After Fame Gurukul, Arijit joined another reality show, 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil and became the winner of the show. With the prize money of Rs 10 lakh, the singer set up a recording studio in Mumbai. Before becoming a professional singer, Arijit also worked with Vishal and Shekhar, Pritam Chakraborty and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy as a musical programmer.

He made his Bollywood music debut in 2011 with the song, Phir Mohabbat from the movie, Murder 2. Then he made a breakthrough with the song, Tum Hi Ho, from the film, Aashiqui 2 in 2013. Cut to 2025, the 38-year-old Indian playback singer, Arijit Singh is collaborating with global musical sensation, Ed Sheeran and planning to launch a new music album.
