Arjun Kapoor's life has been tough, professionally or personally. He had to bear his parents' divorce, Boney Kapoor and Mona Shourie. Apart from that he had also to undergo and come to terms with the loss of his mom. Arjun faced challenges in his school, which made him drop out of college and pursue acting. Before his parents separated, the actor was a good student, but the trauma had made him defocus. He had found comfort in good food that made him obese.
In Raj Shamani's podcast, Arjun talked about the trauma he had to deal with when his parents divorced. He said that unlocking your core memory is tough when you have been through trauma. He said that if one looks back at his life and scans through it, there has been enough trauma in terms of losing his mother when he was 25. This was before the release of Ishaqzaade , so that was a pretty traumatic time just on the cusp of starting a profession. He didn't know what his future was as he lost his backbone. Arjun then revealed that his parents split when he was just 10 years old. In his words:
"That's something that, at that point, didn't feel that it would shape me and change the course of my entirely because I was dealing with it in real time. But when I look back, there are a lot of things. For example , my father was busy making two big films, He was under a lot of pressure to complete those films and release them. son relationship."
Going ahead in the interview, the actor was asked if he had seen his parents fight at home before they had headed for separation. He said that he never saw them fighting and was very fortunate that they respected that. He could never see that side but saw they separated amicably, which made sense to him. However, their split affected his academic life, which had become bad. He added:
"I was a naughty kid but I was very good with studies also, till I was in the fourth standard, I was very into it. And then the split happened. Now, when I look back, I couldn't behave upset. The fact that I wanted this to not happen, but I think somewhere I lost interest in being good at education because I felt it was a rebellious feat."
Arjun then added by saying that he had very good friends and family, so he was not isolated. However, in school everyone wanted to know what was happening in his personal life.
