Ashish Chanchlani Opens Up On 'India's Got Latent' Controversy, 'I Laughed On Ranveer's Stupidity..'

Popular digital creator, actor and influencer, Ashish Chanchlani, recently made headlines for his alleged relationship with popular actress, Elli Avram. But before that, he was a part of the India's Got Latent controversy, as he was on the panel with Ranveer Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija. After months of it, the actor finally opened up about the aftermath of it. 

Ashish Chanchlani was the first person to be approached by police after the controversy

Recently, Ashish Chanchlani sat down for a candid conversation with Faridoon Shahryar, in which he spoke about the entire India's Got Latent controversy. Ashish spoke about how badly he was affected by it. While talking about it, he mentioned that during the entire incident, he was the first person that the police approached as Samay Raina had left India, Apoorva and Ranveer were untraceable. He said:

"So many things happened, those two months were turmoil and it was like this for everyone who was on the show. At that time, Samay was in Vancouver, they were not able to find Apoorva and she was scared also, Ranveer also vanished, so only I was left in Bandra and the police knew where I live, so they came to me first and I had to record my statements with the police."

Why was Ashish Chanchlani questioned despite not making any controversial remark?

In the same interview, Ashish Chanchlani opened up about his frustration and shared that people might make reels but being questioned by the police is not as funny as it sounds. He mentioned that he was supposed to justify why he laughed on that statement. He also explained that he had to be careful with every word he said to government officials. In his words:

"It might have been a clickbait, a reel for many people, but to be in front of the police and the government officials, it’s very serious. I didn’t even say anything on the show. I just laughed in one part of the show, and even that was taken into account. I had to explain to them why I laughed because there were some inside jokes going on with Samay and also, I was laughing at Ranveer’s stupidity, not at the comment that he made."

While talking about the controversy, Ashish mentioned that it was difficult for him but it was much more difficult for Ranveer, Apoorva and Samay. He also shared that he has known Ranveer since 7 years and that Ranveer says anything in fun. He shared:

"I know Ranveer since 7 years. I know wo thoda moj masti mein kuch bhi bol dete hai. But it was very difficult for all of us. Mere liya toh tha hi, Samay Apoorva aur Ranveer ke liye toh bohot hi zyada tha. Circus hua hai 2 mahina."
