Babil Khan, one of the newest entrants in the Hindi film industry, has become the new centre of attention. He is the son of later actor, Irrfan Khan and his wife, Sutapa Sikdar, who followed in his father's footsteps and pursued acting. Despite his father's memorable legacy, Babil opted to work on impactful roles over glitzy ones, which has received a lot of appreciation from the film industry. However, recently one of Babil's video went viral, where his words were misinterpreted causing a new stir. Following the incident, the young actor deactivated his Instagram handle, and his family released a clarification statement. Now, Babil is back on Instagram and has done some important activities on the platform.
Babil Khan deactivated his Instagram handle after one of his deleted Instagram videos surfaced on Reddit. Following the incident, netizens made various speculations and his fans were curious to know about the wellbeing of the actor. However, after a few hours, the young actor reactivated his profile and shared some Instagram stories. In his first story, he re-posted Kubra Sait's post, where she mentioned that she stands by him amid all the wrong notions and misinterpretations made over his video. Expressing his gratitude, he penned:
"Thank you so much. The video was misinterpreted. I was trying to show support to Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Gaurav Aadarsh, Arjun Kapoor, Raghav Juyal and Arijit Singh. I genuinely don't have the energy to indulge more, but I do this as a responsibility to my peers."
Apart from Kubra Sait, Babil re-shared Raghav Juyal's post and thanked him for voicing his support for him. He further added that the kill actor is his icon, ideal and elder brother he never had. Later, he also reacted to Siddhant Chaturvedi's Instagram story, where he shared Babil's throwback picture. For those unaware, Siddhant had also criticised the media for wrongly misinterpreting and making an issue of Babil's video.
After Babil Khan's viral video created a new fiasco on social media, several netizens were confused over his behaviour and made different theories to explain it. To prevent more speculation, the young actor's team stepped up and shared an official clarification on the matter. In the formal note, they mentioned that Babil was just experiencing one of his difficult days in connection to his mental health struggles. However, they assured that he was better and his words were wrongly misinterpreted. One extract from the statement read:
"In the clip, Babil was sincerely acknowledging a few of his peers whom he believes are making meaningful contributions to the evolving landscape of Indian cinema. His mention of artists like Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav, Arjun Kapoor, and Arijit Singh came from a place of genuine admiration for their authenticity, passion, and efforts to restore credibility and heart in the industry. We respectfully urge media publications and the public to consider the full context of his words rather than concluding fragmented video clips."
The controversy began when a reddit user shared a clip of Babil Khan's deleted videos on May 4, 2025. In the video, he seemed upset and teary as he found it difficult to put words to his thoughts. The actor explained that some Bollywood personalities have been rude to him. He took the names of his peers, including Shanaya Kapoor and Ananya Panday, Raghav Juyal, Arijit Singh, Siddhant Chaturvedi and more. However, his words were misinterpreted, creating a new debate on social media. Making shocking claims in his video, Babil said:
