Netflix's latest show, The Royals, is a popular topic of discussion on the internet. The show, which has been trending in more than 40 countries, brought a refreshing plot based on royal drama, steamy romance and a visual spectacle. Set in a fictional Royal world, The Royals tell a story of ambition, love, drama, emotional pain and a bunch of significant secrets which threaten to destroy everything. Naturally, the expectations of fans from the show's cast, including Ishaan Khatter, Bhumi Pednekar, Nora, Udit Arora, Fatehi and Sakshi Tanwar, etc were more.
Amid this, the show's female lead, Bhumi Pednekar, who has previously won hearts by playing unconventional roles, failed to impress some netizens with her performance, which has made her a target of hate. Recently, one of her co-stars from the show, Udit Arora shared his views on the same.
Udit Arora sat down for an interview with Vogue where he talked about his co-star, Bhumi's performance on the show. For those unaware, she plays the role of a smart and independent CEO, 'Sophia Kanmani Sekhar', who owns a company called WorkPotato that renovates the royal place to turn it into a Hotel. Udit explained that he couldn't understand the reason behind the audience's criticism, but his experience working with her was completely different. He said:
"See, I can't say what people like and what they don't like. She's a very hard-working actor, and she gives more than 100 per cent. She has been amazing to me and everyone."
Udit mentioned that Bhumi has always been a helpful and supportive co-star for the rest of the cast. He mentioned that he can't say about other people whether they like Bhumi's performance on the show or not. But an actor can only work with complete honesty, and he has seen Bhumi do exactly that.
Bhumi Pednekar recently sat down for an interview with Harper's Bazaar. During the chat, she was asked if there was a second season of The Royals, would she like to be a part of the show? In turn, Bhumi shared that she has no idea about it and she would leave things for the experts to decide. However, she does hope that her character 'Sohpia' is able to be independent and yet continues to be in love like it did in season one of the show. Sharing her views, Bhumi said:
"I feel like a lot of girls would find representation in her (Sohpia) journey because we are not always vulnerable, and when we are, it's not a weakness. There are lines in the show where she tells Aviraj, "You know, I feel like I'm always up against the world", and there are so many times I've felt like that. I think one of people's favourite things to do is tear women down because it's so easy to do, unfortunately. But I really hope that Sophia, and the experiences in 'The Royals' and whatever we do in season 2 empower me and a lot of other girls."
