Actress Divya Khosla Kumar has been a part of several movies and has also directed two, in addition to serving as a producer on several others. She is married to Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, and the couple has two kids together. Recently, in an interview, Divya discussed her experience of staying in a slum for nearly two weeks, which was necessary for her movie, Ek Chatur Naar. Divya was in Badshah Nagar in Lucknow for her movie, and she revealed being shocked by the living conditions there.
Talking to Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa on their podcast, Divya discussed her role in the movie, in which she plays a woman from a slum. Divya said that for her role in the movie, she had to stay there to adapt to the lifestyle of the characters. She further mentioned how she herself is totally different from the woman she would have to play in the movie, whom the actress described as somewhat fearless and who knows exactly who is a threat to her and can stab her in the back. Divya can be quoted as saying:
"In this movie, I play a woman from the slums, so I actually had to stay in the slums. I stayed there, I lived there. It was very difficult. The character I play is nothing like me; she’s street-smart, she’s a ‘naagin’, she knows exactly who stab in the back."
In the same interview, Divya Khosla revealed that she feels that people are satisfied and happy there, as they have no ambition to fulfil, and they are carefree. She also added that she was invited by the people there, and she had witnessed women removing lice from each other's hair. She also mentioned that there had been three makeshift homes prepared for the film's crew, and her room was located next to a nala, which initially made her uncomfortable due to the stench in the first few days, but she eventually grew accustomed to it. Revealing that she also had lice in her hair, Divya Khosla said:
"I felt that the people there are more satisfied and happy. They’re carefree because they have no ambitions. They would invite me to their houses for tea. I shouldn’t say this, but women there would only be taking out lice from each other’s hair. I had lice in my hair too after spending time there. It was quiet dirty; there was an open sewer there."
Divya Khosla had earlier arrived at Archana Puran Singh's vlog, where she discussed her experience of living in a slum. The actress revealed that she was scared of having to stand near the nala while shooting. She also revealed that she had to do a whole lot of things jhadu, pocha and everything else. Divya is known for her roles in the movies, Satyameva Jayate 2, Yaariyan 2 and Savi. All the movies were co-produced by her husband's T-Series, but couldn't hit the success standards. Divya has also produced Yaariyan and Sanam Re.
