Boney Kapoor's First Wife, Mona Bought The Rings For Him And Sridevi's Wedding 'I Told Her Openly..'

Boney Kapoor's marriage to Sridevi sparked widespread gossip, given that he was already married to Mona Shourie. Boney has already become a parent to his and Mona's two kids, Arjun and Anshula. However, it was in 1996 that Boney married Sridevi. Boney has often spoken about his bond with Mona and how things progressed when he confessed to her that he had feelings for Sridevi. Boney shared that he never kept Mona in the dark about his relationship with Sridevi, and in a recent interview, he shared how supportive his first wife had been of the same.

Boney Kapoor reveals that Mona Shourie was the one to buy the wedding rings for him and Sridevi

Boney Kapoor recently sat for an interview with Chanda Kochhar on her YouTube channel, where he discussed the tough phase after Sridevi's passing, when Arjun and Anushula came forward to stand by Janhvi and Khushi. He shared that he told Mona everything and confessed to having feelings for Sridevi. He also shared that Mona was the one who bought the rings for his and Sridevi's wedding. Boney mentioned that the fact that he openly talked to Mona about this, she eventually raised their children in a way that they hold no such hatred towards him or their half-siblings. Boney could be quoted as saying:

"Look at this ring that I am wearing, and the ring that she (Sridevi) was wearing. Both were bought by Mona. I told her openly and that’s how she brought the children up without creating any kind of hatred towards me or the other kids."

Boney Kapoor reveals why he chose to stay with Sridevi even when Arjun wrote a letter to him

In the same interview, Boney Kapoor revealed that Arjun Kapoor had written a letter to him, asking why he hadn't come home. Boney mentioned that he felt really bad as he was divided, given on one side there were his kids, while on the other side there was Sridevi, who had lost her parents and was all alone. Boney added that he had to be strong and make a decision, thinking that his kids still had their mother, while Sridevi was all alone. Boney went on to mention that he has respect for his ex-wife, as she never played any games to turn anyone against the other, and now that all his four children are together, he feels blessed. Boney Kapoor shared:

"And I had to go through things… I had to be very strong to handle some situations. Because I love all my children. And I respected my ex-wife because she never played this game of putting one against the other. Kids felt bad because they couldn’t see their mom suffering, which I understand. And I feel blessed now, all the four of them are together."

Mona Shourie once talked about the humiliation she faced when Boney Kapoor started dating Sridevi

Mona was only 19 years old when she tied the knot with Boney Kapoor, and there is no second thought about the fact that her world must have turned upside down when she got to know about her husband's affair with Sridevi. In an old interview with DNA, Mona talked about her feelings, stating that people came up to her and advised her that she should lose weight and try to groom herself. Mona added that she felt humiliated, and it made her realise that it was time to get up and start from scratch.

Mona Shourie further shared that one of her friend's mom's advice back then turned out to be a gospel for her during that time. She called it an akashwani for her when her friend's mom said that if they have no place left for her in their lives, then she should do the same as well. Mona shared that this line hit her so hard that she realised it was not she who had failed, but rather the relationship she had, which hadn't worked out.
