Carly Pearce Regretted Marrying Michael Ray, 'I Knew The Night I Got Married That I Shouldn't..'

Sometimes, forever comes with an expiration date. The same happened with Carly Pearce and Michael Ray's marriage. However, now the country singer has admitted that she knew that she had made the wrong decision the second they said 'I do'. Carly appeared on a podcast, Dumb Blonde, hosted by Bunnie XO and shared how, despite marrying Michael for the right reasons, they were not meant to be.

The country singer, during the podcast, explained that Carly had found Michael to be extremely cute and had heard that he was the nicest guy. However, looking back, she realises that they were not in love, just lustful and passionate about each other. Carly had even invited him to her (Billboard Country Airplay) No. 1 party for Every Little Thing. While their romance bloomed after that and she married him for the right reasons, fate had different plans. She was quoted as saying:

"I think that when you travel like this, you think I was doing the right thing by waiting to get married till you are 29. However, we didn’t have genuine conversations, and we didn’t really know each other. We were living a life that wasn’t really reality, now that I look back on it. So, I just think we didn’t really know each other. I knew the night I got married that I shouldn’t have."

In the same conversation, Carly admitted that her and Michael's divorce was the best thing that happened to her during COVID-19 because it allowed her to deal with that in private. She added that she would have stayed in the marriage longer if she could have avoided it. The singer also shared that she was embarrassed when it happened, felt shame about it, and was heartbroken.

Carly Pearce filed for divorce in 2020 after eight months of marriage to the country singer. She revealed that while it wasn't what she signed up for, it wasn't the marriage she knew she deserved. Carly also addressed the speculations about Michael cheating on her during their marriage and stated:

"People have all their opinions, and, at first, that was so hard for me because I was like, 'That's not true, that's not true, that's not true. What he's saying isn't true.' But, at the end of the day, like my friends who walked that with me, they know. My parents know, and God knows, and that is enough. It's enough."

Carly Pearce is happier after the divorce

Carly revealed that she found happiness after the divorce. The Should've Known Better singer thanked Michael Ray for teaching her more about herself. She revealed that it was because of him that she found out how strong she really is. The singer was quoted as saying:

"You taught me how strong I am. You put me through things that have made me better now. And I don't wish him evil. I wish him no harm. I'm so glad that I'm not in that anymore. I think I was really shown just how much I care about me. You know, like, I actually really have a lot of self-worth and that showed me that."
