Carrie Underwood is one of the most well-known American country singers and songwriters. For those unaware, Carrie's career began in mid-2004 when she auditioned for American Idol Season 4 in St. Louis, Missouri. After delivering strong performances one after the other on the show, Carrie went on to win that season as predicted previously by judge, Simon Cowell. Well, in the most full-circle moment, Carrie Underwood has returned to the show once again, this time, as a judge on American Idol Season 24.
However, in the most recent March 2, 2026 Hollywood Week: Music City Takeover episode, Carrie had to face booing from the audience due to some of her remarks. Now, Carrie is finally clapping back.
Soon after Carrie was booed by the audience during the Hollywood Week: Music City Takeover episode of American Idol Season 24, she took to her social media to share her thoughts on the same. In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Carrie doubled down on her stance and wrote, “Boo me. I don't care @americanidol.” For those who missed the recent episode of the reality show, it all went down after contestant, Mor chose to perform an original song. As his performance was going on, viewers could see how much judge, Luke Bryan was enjoying Mor's performance, although it was an entirely different situation for his fellow judge, Carrie.
It was clear as day that she did not approve of Mor's performance, as all she did was sit quietly while Mor sang his original song. In fact, after the performance ended and it was Carrie's turn to critique, the 42-year-old was already aware of the kind of response she would get from the crowd. Claiming that they are all going to boo her, Carrie stated:
“You guys are gonna boo me. You're gonna boo me. It's coming. Bring it on. I love it! Your boos are feeding me.”
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Carrie Underwood has been booed on the show. In fact, it is also not the first time that she has taken to social media to address the matter. On February 18, 2026, Carrie took to her X handle (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Spoiler alert…I get booed A LOT from our Hollywood Week audience." Since then, the post has been viewed nearly two million times.

The internet was left divided after Carrie Underwood judged Mor during Tuesday's final Hollywood Week: Music City Takeover episode. However, the majority seemed to be supporting the Jesus Take the Wheel singer. One user wrote, Why are you being boo’d? For what it’s worth, I think you’re about the best role model for young women I can think of!” A second supportive fan penned, “Wear it as a badge of honour. It means you’re on the right track.” A third user who did not watch the latest episode said, “Who would boo you? What did I miss? Love you, Carrie.” Another wrote:
“I'm sure you've had to endure more than just a few boos from an American Idol audience. I'd imagine you need some thick skin to survive the music industry. Love the show you all put out.”
It is worth noting that apart from the fans online, Carrie Underwood was also defended during the episode by her fellow judge, Luke Bryan. When the boos didn't stop for a long time, Luke made it clear to the audience that what they were doing was out of line. He reminded the audience of Carrie's Season 4 win and said that “She's only won this. She knows.” Carrie also stood up for herself, telling the crowd that they were not included in the discussions.
