'Dev's Ex-Girlfriend Is My Wife' Says Subhashree's Husband, Raj After Duo Reunite For 'Dhumketu'

Deepak Adhikari a.k.a Dev and Subhashree Ganguly are one of the most loved on-screen couples in the Bengali film industry. Just like the popular pairs, 'Mahanayak' Uttam Kumar and Indian actress, Suchitra Sen, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta, Dev and Subhashree also once ruled the industry. However, after a nine-year hiatus, the duo has come together for their film, Dhumketu. Recently, the former couple had a reunion at the trailer launch event on August 4, 2025. Yes, you read it right. There was a time when Dev and Subhashree’s on-screen romance transitioned to off-screen as well. Now, Subhashree’s husband and filmmaker, Raj Chakraborty, reacted to the trailer launch event.

Dev and Subhashree have a warm reunion at the trailer launch of Dhumketu

Ever since the promotions of Dhumketu started, Dev and Subhashree fans’ only wish was to see their favourite jodi together once again. So, to keep their fans' request, Dev and Subhashree came together and shared the same stage at the trailer launch event of Dhumketu. The event took place on August 4, 2025, at Nazrul Mancha, Kolkata. The former couple danced, took a picture together, and followed each other on Instagram at their fans’ request. Subhashree also asked her ex-boyfriend, Dev, "Will you be friends with me?" Then the duo shook hands. However, Dev’s present girlfriend, Rukmini, and Subhashree’s husband, Raj Chakraborty, have raised a lot of eyebrows with their absence from the event.

Raj Chakraborty reveals why he was absent from the trailer launch event of Dhumketu

In a recent interview with Anandabazar.com, Raj was asked why he hadn’t attended the trailer launch event of Dhumketu. In response, Raj stated that he had a lot of meetings, and technically, he cannot go to the event as well because he is not directly associated with the movie. He shared that everyone involved in the project had attended the event, which made it a success. He also mentioned that the industry had tried to bring back the two superstars, so that people could celebrate their return for a long time. He was quoted as saying:

"I had a lot of work, a lot of meetings. Besides, I can't go to this event! I'm not directly associated with this film, I'm a third party. It's an event. Everyone associated with this film was present. Our goal is to bring back the two superstars after nine years. So that everyone remembers their return for a long time. That is what we have done."

Raj Chakraborty shares that a person shouldn’t talk about their past

Further in the interview, Raj was asked what his take is on Dev saying, "Raj is a lot like Dev". In response, he shared that Dev is also like Raj, as the duo has come from the same background. He stated that both he and Dev know how to appreciate good works. When the interviewer mentioned Subhashree’s name, the filmmaker shared that Dev’s ex-girlfriend is his wife now. Just like them, everyone has a past, so it’s better not to talk about that. In his words:

"Dev is also very much like Raj. In many ways. Because we both came from the same background. Dev's 'ex-girlfriend' Subhasree is my wife. Every person has a 'past'. You may have one in your life, too. Would you like me to talk about it? People shouldn't talk about their past. It's not a crime. There are many memories in it, many positive aspects. That's why Monday's program is so beautiful, so successful. I respect it, I don't envy it."

For the unversed, Dhumketu is all set to release on August 14, 2025. The film stars Dev, Subhashree, Rudranil Ghosh and Chiranjeet Chakraborty. The movie is directed by ace filmmaker, Kaushik Ganguly.
