Dia Mirza, who won the title of Miss India Asia Pacific in 2000, went on to become one of Bollywood's most gorgeous actresses. While she might not have had much luck in the film industry, with most of her releases turning out to be box office flops, Dia Mirza is remembered for her beauty, grace, and passion to this day. Her 2002 movie, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge , alongside Salman Khan, remains a fan favourite. And recently, the stunning actress opened up about an on-set interaction with Bollywood's Bhaijaan that left her 'baffled.'
Dia Mirza recently sat for an interview with Connect Cine, during which she opened up about sharing screen space with Bollywood icon, Salman Khan. Dia and Salman were paired on-screen for the first time in Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge , and they had a hilarious conversation on set that left Dia a little confused. Dia recalled:
“We were shooting with Rajpal Yadav and a very funny scene was going on. During the scene, the lady who was playing Salman's mother was also there. She was waiting for her shot. Salman tells me like this, 'You know that at one time this lady who is playing my mother was my heroine!' What did I say?”
Dia revealed being utterly shocked by Salman's statement. However, the actor reiterated that the actress they had been discussing had indeed played his leading lady in a film. Dia, still in disbelief, asked, "She is your age and she is playing your mother?". Salman's response to the same was hilarious as he said, "Yeah and one day, you will play my mother!". Recalling her baffled response to the statement, Dia said:
"I was like 'I hope that day never comes!' Of all my memories working with Salman, this was a distinct one because this was so baffled by that, but I remember him being extremely protective and caring… at that, there was no gender-balance on sets. very less women on set."
That one odd remark aside, Salman Khan was an absolute gentleman to Dia Mirza on the sets of Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge . And she acknowledged the same during the interview, recalling how the actor had protected her in the male-dominated environment. Dia said:
"The kind of gender balance you see on sets today didn't exist in those days. Unless there were female dancers on set, there were hardly any women. It was a male-dominated space. And I remember him being extremely protective and extremely caring."
Tumko Na Bhool Payenge turned out to be a box office flop, receiving mixed reviews from critics. However, lead actress, Dia Mirza, believes that the film would do much better if it were released in today's time. The actress is currently enjoying much praise for her performance in her re-released debut film, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein . On that note, Dia stated that her film with Salman could potentially receive similar appreciation if it were re-released in theatres.
